I appreciate the synergy part. I find it more melodic and lush sounding when paired with a warmer source. The bass of S12 is of incredible quality. Well-behaved, textured, and rounded. Like a steak that's properly cooked.
@ZeoNeXus2 жыл бұрын
@Russian Bad Boy I haven't heard the Z12 and I don't have any plans to buy it as I have the S12 already. I can tell you that the S12's bass is already perfectly crafted and I see no reason why they have to increase the sub-bass by 2db. Both the sub-bass and mid-bass of the S12 is well done IMHO. You may want to check the frequency response graph of both IEMs as I see the Z12 having more pinna gain than the S12 which might affect harmonics that the S12 deliver's smoothly.
@ZeoNeXus2 жыл бұрын
@Russian Bad Boy Since you sound determined to get the Z12, then I can only wish you the best. I'm sure you're going to enjoy your venture with planar IEMs. May the Z12 give you pleasant experience as you listen to your favorite music tracks.

I've been using S12 with Link2 Bal for a month and I'm very happy with this combo. I sold my bayerdynamic dt770 , senheiser ie600(it was ok but not worth it for the price) I only kept blon 03 (it doesn't come near S12 performance only keeping it as backup), also keeping sundara may upgrade to audeze mm500 when its available in nearby stores , I'm now a planar fan . I won't be buying any budget iems anymore will only buy multi driver in future like mest2 but will keep S12 in my collection it's a keeper.

i was worried about the upper frequencies being harsh, and prefer a warm sound, but the z12 (same as s12 with a 2db sub bass boost) sounds pretty neutral and vocals sound good. i like to hear bass too and feel it, and using an EQ, you can get a really full deep sound with the bass , no need to eq out high frequencies

Hi! Enjoy your videos and many thanks for the work you put in. Would like to ask a quick opinion/reco. I daily drive a 7hz Zero and Tangzu Wan'er. Also use a Hifiman HE400SE and M40x (in case that helps the discussion). Music is mainly forms of rock (indie, alt, shoegaze, pop punk, jrock), instrumental (math rock, prog rock/metal, jazz fusion), indie/jazzy/bluesy/chill pop, and occasionally some hiphop (specifically Kendrick/Kanye/early Drake). So a majority is music with instruments (as opposed to more electronic things). Looking for an upgrade on the technicalities front - imaging, separation, resolution, clarity. Really enjoy the tuning of the 7hz Zero and Wan'er. I can currently get a Hexa for $90, which would've been my insta-pick (Zero Red didn't seem like it would've been a big enough upgrade - can get it for $60 by the way) buuuuut, i can get an S12 for $100. Is the S12 too good of a deal to pass up? I feel like i will prefer the Hexa tuning more, but i believe the S12 is a considerable step up in technicals. And i would also be open to try out the different tuning of the S12, in addition to the better technical performance. What you think? 😅 Thanks!!!

Definitely S12 or S12 Pro. Zero Red is decent but I find it pretentious and kinda boring.

Since you've reviewed both, how does the S12 stack up vs the Ikko OH10 in your opinion? Especially when it comes to details/clarity & timbre. Want a v-shaped upgrade from my CCA CRA & am torn between these two. Was originally going straight for S12, but then I heard complaints about the vocals (more forward than OH10, but also sound "echoey" and low res) and that the OH10 has better details so I'd love a 2nd opinion.
@PrimeAudioReviews Жыл бұрын
S12 is very revealing which might be why some people complained about vocals. Oh10 is more v shaped so vocals aren't as forward in the mix. Oh10 has a large soundstage and s12 is super resolving.

I ordered the S12 to check the hype. But I confess I'm a bit afraid of those peaks on upper mids and highs. I've tried the PMV PP and I remember the low frequencies were really nice. Bass kick drums sound massive (John Bonham's specifically) but it lacked high frequencies. The S12 is quite the opposite, so let's see if that's the one. Great review!

5:53 alright, I'm sold... I did order the Z12 Model instead... as I guess a little more sub bass, 50hz below wont hurt. and if it's too much I can always EQ it out... But I'm a big Metal guy... a lot of Modern Metalcore/Deathcore/Djent/Prog stuff, so I think these may satisfy my ears in regards to the bass.

I disagree.I find it sibillant. By the way what do you mean with “technicalities “? Resolution imaging and soundstage? Why are they called that way?
@PrimeAudioReviews2 жыл бұрын
Have you tried different eartips? You need to get a proper seal to get a proper bass response. Yes, technicalities are imaging, detail retrieval and soundstage. They're called that way because to some degree they are more objective than tonality or sound signature.
