Love this project and absolutely love all this cake talk!!! 🍰😄 Came for the watercoloring, stayed for the cake analogies. 😁 Sarah and Keenan, you two are so fun! Thank you!

I did this project today as my first paint of the new year (2022). Since we finally got snow, I turned it into a snow tree...then I needed to add some blue for the background so you could see the snow. Thanks for another fun tutorial and for making me hungry!

That makes sense. Wish we could see how it turned out!

you have definitely nailed the teaching thing Sarah. and the best dessert I’ve ever had was called a penguin cake. Imagine cubes of angel food soaked in a dark chocolate mousse overnight, molded into a cake shape and covered with whipped cream and chocolate 🤔 and y’all know how I feel about trees! 🤗

LOVE you guys and all of the kits and courses! I have sent a variety of boxes and kits to friends to introduce them to you all. I especially love your attitudes and the kind, supportive way s that you all use when you teach - and the banter during the tutorials. : ) And as you guys are dessert/sweet lovers like me I was wondering if you have tried the Ghiradelli Double Chocolate Brownie mix? If not, you should! Delicious! Thank you again for all that you do! Often, even when I am doing other things and can't paint along I listen to your tutorials! They have been a blessing during these challenging times!

I love your recurring tip to reuse graphite paper for lighter, cleaner outlines! I also reuse my painters tape by sticking it on the bottom of my butcher tray palette between painting sessions. I have been using the same couple pieces of tape for all outlining for months and months now. It sticks just fine and doesn't risk lifting paper fibers the way new tape can.

That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing.

I have a degree in landscape horticulture w a concentration in landscape design and when we were learning about drawing trees and textures of leaves we used the phrase “leaf language”. Just thought you might like to use that term for your future classes when you talk about how different types of trees have different textures based on their leaf shapes, the perspective of the image, and the focal distance in the landscape of the painting 🧑🎨 🙂

You may be on to something here with the more detail tutorial. I’m challenged by watercolor’s looseness, yet drawn to fussy realism. Your giraffe, for example, I painted both ways. And I love trees! Kudos!

I'm either a control freak or an over doer.. Lol.. I want to control every stroke perfectly as I see it in my head or end up doing blocks.. Lol.. Need to learn to let go and keep trying.. Tree looks lovely.. Also, I only have dry pans for now.. So I I find it a bit harder to mix shades specially without making a mess

I jumped over here from the "Live" on Facebook that had glitches today, 12/ 20/ 2021. Did anyone else? I'm so far behind on the painting I think I will just put it on in background and follow the written instructions. Better luck next time!
