+Flynt Coal I know this is an old comment, but the word you're looking for is "pique". Peek is used when you're looking at something quickly or in a sneaky way, or if something sticks out slightly. Peak is the top of something. You could say you peeked at the object that peeked over the peak of the hill, for it had piqued your interest, which was now at its peak. That covers most uses :p It's nothing against you, I just see peek/peak/pique misused pretty often.

+Flynt Coal You don't really get to choose whether or not you "care" about which words mean what. It also takes almost no effort on your part to use the right word. Besides, you only have to write a text once, but it will probably be read multiple times. If you spend a bit more time or effort on getting it right other people have to spend less time/effort reading it.
