The Takomo 101s model that you lent me certainly did impress. I’m guessing the 101 probably are a bit longer. That was the only difference as far as I can see between the 790s and the 101s was the distance. It was about a club length.

i like the info and review, thnx. i have a good story on the baggage handlers, we were leaving from boston on a florida golf trip about 30 years ago and as we're sitting in the plane in the loading area and I look out the window and saw the cart go by with all the luggage and club bags and my clubs ended up falling off on the tarmac and sat there for awhile. I kinda flipped and went up and notified the stewardess and then saw a guy run out and get them just before they started the plane. I got the pxg 0211 irons last year and they feel nice and gained 10 yards but they way too low for my swing. the 5 iron goes 170yds but only 20ft. off the ground.

Thanks for the video! I love the look of those Touras. Reminds me a lot of the Mizuno MP-60s I still bag (and absolutely love) with the size and placement of cavity and I’ve been looking for a reasonable replacement. My favorite feature of the MP-60s was that for the quality of iron I picked them up barely hit for less than 400 dollars 12 years ago or so. Looking around that’s almost impossible now. They’re cheap but mint sets are seemingly nonexistent. The Toura J-CB looks like a possible candidate, the Maltby TS3s too! Any comment on how they compare to MP-60s if you’ve hit them?

I feel like in most hobbies the budget category is usually best value: good enough performance for the price, but there'll be compromises. It sounds like for golf, these irons are literally equal performance for half the cost. Are there any physical downsides to using these budget options? DTC makes sense why some of the costs would be lower, and I feel like some of these brands don't spend nearly as much on marketing either. Other than brand loyalty/looks, is there any reason to grab a pair of the mainstream options?

Which budget iron set would be the best for high hc player? I can make good contact, but I don't have the best distance. Usually hit my 7i about 150 yards. I feel like my current irons are holding me back a bit, but it could be my swing. I get into a lot of trouble with driver, but I'm getting better. I'm thinking of upgrading my 12yr old game improvement irons and don't necessarily want to get game improvements again just to end up buying another set in the near future if I continue to improve.
@gtn1994Ай бұрын
150 is perfectly fine for a 7 iron. One of my best rounds ever played I was hitting my 7 iron right at 150 with game improvement style irons. Played them for a long time after that even, and eventually got where I was hitting 7 iron 185-190 (through longer backswing, faster swing speed, and more efficient swing). I recently switched to blades and my 7 iron is around 165 and I like that distance a lot better! My wedges are gapped really well and flow into my iron set very nicely, and my descent angle and spin numbers are good. These things are much more important than total distance. If you have a good swing with great fundamentals you shouldn't really have trouble hitting most irons. Maltby TS3 sounds promising, and based on videos alone that would be the set to look at if you are really wanting a new set of irons.
