For the 3rd story, my first guess was that the phone call was going to be Amy's ex pretending to be a cop to lure the guy somewhere and kill him after seeing the text on her phone. What actually happened was still pretty messed up tho

I fully agree with one writer's sentiment that ride-share drivers should be fully vetted both before & at regular intervals during active driver status. But there's only so much that can be gleaned from background checks & driving records. How exactly does one's background indicate that they might lock a passenger in the car & demand a 5-star rating? I think that's putting a bit too much responsibility on the company to somehow know how an individual may act. There's always a "first" incident of concerning behavior. All the company can really do is ban them after something has happened. If you get a bad vibe from someone, trust your gut. Get out of the car. If you can't get out, call the police.
@sebastiantschatordai3 жыл бұрын
What if you can't call the police?
@datMMAguy3 жыл бұрын
I was thinking maybe on top of the background checks and driving records they could maybe implement a system where you also have to have a dash cam installed and recording during the entirety of each ride. Then the footage could be submitted at the end of the day/week. Just a thought, I agree it is a tricky situation.

Crazy coincidence about Dalton. I used to live in Kalamazoo and went for college, I used to take uber all the time and most were men, some creepy and some just sweet old men. I don’t think I’ve ever had Dalton but I would have to go back in my history to verify. I believe he was arrested a few streets over where I used to live. I was asleep through it all but I had a class that afternoon and would have taken that Uber ride if I wasn’t feeling crazy tired due to how many classes I was taking. Once I woke up, I had nearly 40 missed calls from both my sister and my mom. I called an asked what had happened, figuring something happened back home. Nope they thought I was the one who was dead since this crazy Uber driver was killing innocent people. Kind of crazy just how lucky I really was to be lazy. I feel for those who have lost their loved ones. On what should of been normal evening, chaos took place. I’m glad there was justice!

Stories 2►8:39: FYI: Uber? Vetting? Uber's vetting process is abysmal, they use a third-party company called Checkr to review three years of one's driving history and criminal record; that's it, just 3 years. Lyft is no better either. Taxies cost more but are safer. You save more money with Uber & Lyft but you take greater risks.

Thats all just a marketing ploy by Let's Read. He pays people with annoying voices too narrate similar stories & too populate his genre so that all that traffic grasped by their annoyance is then redirected too the Let's Read channel too be soothed & have their annoyances dissappear creating an emotional benefit tied into the initial benefit of just consuming content allowing for a greater attachment to grow than if it were a mere content consuming relationship. Joel is a marketing & human psychology genius.

Hmmm, I've lived in both kinds of neighborhoods and a community of so-called snitches is unquestionably safer than the alternative. It seems the willingness to give information to police about crime ends up resulting in less crime. Funny how that works. I fully understand it's not that simple to talk to police when you're threatened if you do. I'm just saying that being a snitch isn't entirely a bad thing. Props to that cool-as-a-cucumber Uber driver though for making sure murder was not the case that night, at least for himself.
