First of all a big CONGRATULATIONS from Italy for your video which are the most honest and realistic ones in the dividend world. What I still dont understand is about snowball strategy: as I receive a dividend of X company, it is better to reinvest in the same stock or just invest the dividend in the next (cronologically speaking) dividend stock? Beacuase not all brokers gives you the chance to buy a % of the stock , like Etoro, but most of brokers like XTB force you to buy an entire stock. For example, APPLE stock which costs about 172 usd, if you have 10 stocks, you receive 0,24 for stock, so you receive 2,4 usd, impossible to buy a new stock. So, what's your move? Add the 2,4 usd with fresh money and buy another Apple stock, or buy the forthcoming dividend stock? Thanlks a lot for clarify, Andy from Rome
@josephhogue Жыл бұрын
Great question Andy. Really up to you if you reinvest in same stock or other. Important is to get the money reinvested so it's working for you. Only thing I'd say is watch to make sure any one stock doesn't become more than 10% of your portfolio

Great Vid. $2.5M portfolio at about 125k/yr. I'm living off my dividend portfolio. The only thing I like to point out is as you know different companies pay on different months. March, June, September, and December are my "big months" Most companies pay on this schedule. The months Jan, April, July, Nov. are my "small months" as most companies rarely pay on these months. So you got to adjust accordingly. The way to combat this was investing in something that pays monthly like JEPI, O, QYLD.

Maritime shipping like Joseph's example with GOGL is volatile and that's how the industry is. Ship owners are notoriously known for being cheap and not paying bills so I would not have a huge investment in there unless you completely understand or are in the industry. The shipping industry also has cycles with a seasonal crash but with the volatility globally with the supply chains and the possibility of some ships being delayed or "locked" in port, there is a possibility the seasonal crash or slow time may not happen.

Only way your going to live off dividends in 1 year is if your playing major stock options and collecting huge premiums from a 30k to 50k portfolio.. and risking it all for that bigger premium. Which at any point if you loose. It then you also loose your way of life and have to start over.

My brother-in-law and I love talking about markets and speculation. He looks a lot at the next year or 2, while I look at 5-10 years from now. This allows me to sleep at night, because I trust my companies will be better/higher in the next 5 years. The next month or year is irrelevant to me. I DO watch the market to see when my Dividends get lower so I can buy more, but I never stress on a -2.5% s%p drop like today!
