I've been eye balling a couple tech stocks and APPL for a while now. I own no energy stocks in my portfolio and I want to make that addition to my portfolio or is too late? i currently plan to budget about 500k in savings lying waste to inflation.
@mikegarvey179 ай бұрын
I find it more productive and safe to buy growth/blue-chip stocks rather than tech stocks. However, It's advisable to work with a fiduciary advisor for well-diversified portfolios instead of relying solely on speculations.
@mariaguerrero089 ай бұрын
Exactly, a good number of people discredit the effectiveness of financial advisor, but over the past 3years, I’ve had a financial advisor consistently restructure and diversify my portfolio/expenses and I’ve made over $1million in gains… might not be a lot but i'm financially secure and that's great!

Thanks for sharing. I curiously searched for her full name and her website popped up after scrolling a bit. I looked through her credentials and did my due diligence before contacting her. Once again many thanks.

Buffett did not go dump most of his money in a stock. He bought a ton of Apple mid 2000-2010 and it ballooned in value. He owns so many shares from its multiple splits he makes a fortune from the tiny Apple dividend

You need to be careful with dividend kings and Aristocrats. Many of the prices erode over time. For instance, over the last 5 years 3M (MMM) dropped from $182.67 to $91.40 today a 50% drop. FMC dropped 50% in the last 5 months from $131.52 to $62.18.
@jeffaragon10 ай бұрын
OK but did they cut the dividend because most people invest in dividend kings for the consistency of the dividend
@Daimajin69610 ай бұрын
@@jeffaragon No they did not cut the dividend. However, lets use MMM as an example. If you bought the stock 5 years ago for $182.67 you would have received est $6.00 per year in dividends x 5 years for a total of $30.00. But, you would have lost $91.27 in stock value per share. So now if the stock doesn't go down in price any further it will take ($91.27 / $6.00) = 15 years to be back to even.
@steveanthony553010 ай бұрын
@Daimajin696: Don’t try to make rational arguments to these dividend zealots. As long as their little dividend remains they don’t care about massive losses in value. But, when the dividend does get cut, tears start falling when it’s time to sell.
@HotdogSandwich3610 ай бұрын
MMM is a unique scenario. They are paying out big lawsuits, so that will affect earnings. But you should also consider what are the gains over the long term, so maybe it’s opportunistic to pick this up at a discount. Also, if you did hold MMM before the spinoff, you were rewarded with shares from SOLV.

People who sre dividend investors do it for the cash flow not total return. Many have owned decades before covid so their cost averaged are alot lower. You shouldn't be buying ATH either.

Bs 3.2 %? Really, even with adding 6% it only a return of 9.2 Oxlc is paying 18+% , it pays 94 cents per share yearly. But the cost per share is only 5.10 a share so for the cost of 1 share of coke you gey 11 shares of oxlc. That means 11x 94 cents a year Oh and I forgot to mention , It pays out monthly which means if you reinvest your dividends you can increase that 18 % to about 20%. Those are numbers not found since enron times lol which mean you can double you money in 5 years without ever having to sell any stocks or pay any fees for selling them or buying them back

@@ogierthedane6025 400% in dividends over 15 years more than offsets NAV loss. That being said I avoided it because I didnt like the financials. I admit I was wrong in my analysis. It paid off for those that were in it.
@hansschotterradler377210 ай бұрын
You really believe you'll get a 20% total annual return with OCLC? That would be a unicorn 🦄. Wall Street would jump on this an bid up the share price. This is Warren Buffett's average return. You must be new to investing.
@markberlanga637510 ай бұрын
@hansschotterradler3772 it's oxlc not.oclc But to your point, the difference being I have have owned the stock for almost a year and I have been collecting dividends every. Month. Now you can follow buffet. But I bet you don't get his return do you? Because your following , so by the time your mo ey buys the stock the price has changed from WHaT he got it at right? Also he is buying and trading which means he doesn't realize his return u til the stock is sold correct? I on the other hand just have to check the market every few days Tomales sure my auto orders haven't triggered the sale of the stock ( like if the stock dropped an insane amount in a day like over 12 % ) I. Which case I do lose 30 days of dividend income but I can buy the stock back at a lower cost. Also note dividends are announced at least a month in advance , so there are no sudden changes that will effect my income . If the dividend is reduced , fine I can them sell . BTW if you look at the stock over the last year you o lying see 3 relatively large spikes only one was downward, the other 2 were upward. . But hey of your fine with thinking that there is less risk with a company that has been around longer and fine with not maximizing you return on investment and are fine with having to check the stock hourly or waiting to get paid something, go ahead , you do you . But don't pretend that it's the best, most profitable way to go. Because it isn't. What it is is an attempt to mitigate risks at the costs of dividend returns. What it is is also showing a bias in market cap stocks.
