Good evening! And thank you very much for tuning into this walk around the wonderful Surrey town of Godalming! On our walk, we mentioned that Godalming's history goes back to the Anglo-Saxon era, around the time when the first chapel was built where the parish church stands today. The town's name too has Anglo-Saxon origins, deriving from the name 'Godhelms Ingus', referring to a place which belonged to the family of a man named 'Godhelm'!

Awesome live walk in the town today. Very beautiful and historical the medieval buildings and houses are. Your history lessons are always great, and your walks are always enjoyable. Can't wait to see more soon. We have more snow coming in Canada today. How is your week? My week is going well. Have a great day greetings from Canada 😀

Did the river walk here many years ago, then went to the Jack Phillip's pub for lunch. Godalming is one of my favourite Surrey towns, the architecture is wonderful

I thoroughly enjoy all the audio tours you do. So relaxing. I was disappointed most of the videos are text-only. Hope more are voiced in future. Especially the Norwich one.

Interesting point. It probably wouldn't be too hard to add a voice-over narration to the walks already filmed. Whether the sub-titles would be easy to remove, I don't know. They could probably just be left in place though and anyone who prefers that style, could just mute the sound. Just a thought.👍😁

Another great walk. My sister lives in Aldershot and, when we visit, they always take us out on day tours to various locations. They never took us to Godalming, I wonder why. I think I will have to take her to task on this.

Nearby cranleigh would be equally desirable if it wasn’t for the beeching railway cuts leaving the village rather isolated. I went to college in godalming and it’s a nice place as is Guildford.

As a resident of Godalming, very nice video. However I take issue you with you that Jack Phillips was partly responsible for the Titanic hitting the iceberg. The Titanic, had been receiving ice warnings from other ships since the Friday, reporting much pack ice.A proper heeding of all the ice warnings, plus a reduction in speed, plus increasing the look out would have prevented the disaster. Also 40 minutes before the collision with the iceberg, the Titanic was in communication with the steamer Rapperhanock by signal lamp, who reported having recently passed through heavy pack ice.First officer Murdoch on the Titanic, mearly replied; message received, thanks, good night. So the Titanic had plenty of warning, Jack Phillips was not in any way to blame.
