The words "new sculpture" don't usually fill me with anticipation but that centurion is rather impressive. It's one of these situations where the rust, or probably "patina" when it's a sculpture, actually 𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒔 to it's interest. The "Market Woman" is an unusual piece too and the first time I've seen two decent statues in one town. I only ever visited Wallsend the once, to a Working Mens' Club, and had no idea it was such a green, pleasant town.😁👍

I haven't lived on Tyneside for over 20 years. I visited Wallsend literally last week and forgot how huge it actually is and how it sprawls from 'Middle Engine Lane' where the George Stephenson Railway Museum adjacent to New York Village/ North Shields and Battle Hill. It starts there then the 'Coast road' cuts it up then down all the way to the Tyne. Battle Hill Holy Cross High Farm Howden East Howden Willington Quay Roseburn Hadrian Park

I think you have morphed several places into one, none of the places you mention are strictly speaking Wallsend itself.

What a revolting rusty old 'sculpture' - clearly the barbarians are now South of the Wall.
