The thing about this whole story is, ostrich farmers have reported difficulties breeding their ostriches. The ostriches will, on average, more often do mating displays for their human handlers than for other ostriches. Captive ostriches are very likely to be attracted to humans. So Boots and/or the Ginger might not have had to catch or hold down the ostrich. The ostrich may not have even fought back.
