You don’t repair an ECU. You make a backup of it when you first get the vehicle, then overwrite the ECU with the backup if it acts up. If that doesn’t work, you buy an ECU from the same truck at the junk yard, overwrite it with the backup, and burn the original ECU so it doesn’t spread to other devices.

Just as a tip, a carbureted engine will not turn over unless the gas tank is sealed. Most carbs don't have a fuel pump attached so it relies on its own vacuum, which is only created in a closed circuit. In other news, I overfilled my truck, which still has vacuum lines instead of a fuel pump even though it's injected, and some of the fuel got caught in the vacuum channel. Took about 5 minutes with the cap on for the fuel level to go down.

*Me (insert gif of extreme mental arithmetic here):* "If it's electrical, it's gonna be ignition, 'cos if the battery, alternator, or starter motor's bad, it won't even last for five attempts at starting. Check the coil(s), plugs, and distributor if we're talkin' old-school; if it's none of that, it's fuel. Check the filter; if it's clogged, check the tank, too. If it's clean, check the injectors/carburetor." *Wayne:* "Yeah, it turns out the gas cap was just loose, and...she won't turn over unless she's air-tight, so--" *Me:* "I'M IN THIS VIDEO AND I DON'T LIKE IT"

The great part about living in the south is that you can find conversations and people just like this pretty much anywhere. Part of the reason I love this show so much is because of that relation and understanding.

@@yotemtotem1246 Remember, you can go anywhere but they can only sell to who comes through the door. They know you need a car and will use that against you if you let them. You get the best deal once they've reached "That's the best I can do" the third time and you say "thank you for your time" and you get up and walk away. They give you that deal at the door frame one your way out. P.S. It helps when you're talking to the salesman and you have someone texting another dealer the details. Starts a bidding war.
