I love Catherine! Watch Scorsese’s documentary “Italianamerican” it’s basically Martin talking to his parents about their upbringings in Italy. Martin’s parents, especially his mother have vibrant personalities

Martin pronounces his last name score-SEH-see. Search "How does M.S. pronounce his last name," and you'll find a video featuring an interview with Charlie Rose, where he asks him the same question. That should put to rest all the wild theories. My guess is that the director in this visit with Dave either didn't insist on the right pronunciation out of politeness, or he didn't mind the Americanized version of the Italian pronunciation Dave and many other of his compatriots were using.
