Green never mailed it in. They had him on one of the annual specials doing the same song as a duet with a female singer. It was an amazing way to end the special (7th)? I can’t believe I remember it. I’m going to look for it.

I love how in the very last skit, it was obvious that “Chris” was going to get thrown off the ledge of his window but even knowing that, I still found it hilarious!

Ha ha.. yeah he seems so sincere but kinda sad, like a bad kid who just got busted. He's naturally funny because I feel just a tiny bit sorry for him but still laugh out loud at his inevitable fate.

The greatest Paul Shaffer musical joke I ever heard (and Chris will appreciate this) was an outro to a Top Ten list. The topic was about how a family was financially capitalizing on the recent birth of their septuplets - seven kids. And Paul's song was "Money" by Pink Floyd. A good enough joke as it is, but the aspect of it that destroyed me - and I may have been like one in twelve people to get this - is that "Money" is in 7/4 time. Seven. Septuplets. BRILLIANT.

These were great memories -- the music of Letterman and his genuine love and appreciation for the artists was such a fantastic part of the show! Paul Shaffer, and the World's most Dangerous Band, were amazing every night!

I appreciate hearing from Chris Schukei, as someone who worked closely with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra, and the Late Show's musical guests. The music of the Late Show was always important to me.
