My friends and I are getting up in the years, I'm 57. When we go see shows now, we try to see groups that are older, and are coming to the end of their careers. We call them "bucket list shows". A few years ago we saw Bob and the SB band in Dayton, Ohio and the show was amazing. The startling thing wasn't how great they sounded, but all the material. Songs that you hadn't heard in a awhile, but knew every lyric. Such an amazing singer and song writer.

I'm 53, and a few years ago, I made a list of performers I wanted to see before either they passed or I did. The best one, that it was really his last hurrah, was Merle Haggard. Saw his show from the third row. It was everything I needed it to be. Sadly, B.B. King was a let down.

Always a pleasure to listen to people like Bob who followed their dream persistently and successfully in a tough business, and I don 't mean just the business. The challenges of the recording and business end, all those who depend on you and those who take a cut of your success, plus the personal challenges of being away from your family while having to tour, the many shows and constant traveling with monotony, boredom, and temptations. Talent, work, sacrifice (high divorce rates), and luck. Not an easy business at all.
