In this class, instructor Steven James takes you through the process of adding impressions into glass using leather stamps and large screws and springs from the hardware store. Steven also demonstrates how to use transparent enamels over stamped metal designs. Now you can mix your love of metal stamping, with torch enameling!
This class is an intermediate level class, we recommend viewing Torch Enameling, Butane Torch Safety, and Stamping on Metal in preparation for this class. Come join our Facebook Group - / metalstampingandbeyond

We find that if the piece is flat we don't need an adhesive. But, we love it when enameling on a curved surface. We use Holding Agent: www.beaducation.com/zen_products/4594-holding-agent

Can I use any metal design stamps? Do you use a release agent? If not, what stops the glass from sticking to the stamp? Can they be used to stamp etla after you use them with enamel?

HI Divella. Well technically yes, any stamp would work as long as it is deep enough to impress a deep enough impression in the glass BUT, when you press a piece of metal to the glass, it will heat up the tip of the stamp and can start to soften it. It then won't work well in metal anymore. We use leather stamps for this because #1, they are cheap and #2, they don't need to be super hard to impress into leather. In regards to your question about sticking to the glass, it just doesn't stick. I don't think the glass is molten enough to stick. Hope this helps :)

Dianne Jacques it won't stick because the metal stamp isn't hot. If it was, the glass would stick. Hot glass sticks to other hot things, not cold ones.

Yep, you sure can. Here is a video on how to use the pickle pot and Sparex. You can also use the more natural Citric Acid in the pot. beaducation.com/product_videos/65-sparex-pickling-compound

The enamels are not fusing completely, they go through the sugar, orange peel and shine a little and then nothing happens. When the project is cold some enamel falls off, what am I doing wrong? The projects worked in art class but not at home, I use Max flame torch.

beaducation I clean with pennybrite, use tongs and make sure not to leave fingerprints, also use Klyr-Fire spray. How long does a penny size take to fuse completely?

sajvi Hi, What metal are you using, copper or brass? I'm curious how you are is making this spray? Also, what made you decide not to use Klyr-fire right out of the jar?
