What I love about this is that your "drawing voice" still shows in your art even when the drawing is not in your "niche" stuff. As in your character is wearing a SKULL, exploring an ANIMAL print...and it still looks cozy and sweet in some ways as your other work. It's FASCINATING. (I find this happens with writers too, even when they write across genres.)

I'm so proud of you for allowing yourself to just enjoy being a creative person! I see your struggles--obviously--and I love to watch you work through them and learn from them. I love this "weird" piece! It's a really cool concept that I think you should explore more. One of the really fun things about art is using different mediums. I've never used gouche but I love the way other artists pieces look when they use it.

This is such great advice! I have found myself lately trying to figure out what type of art I should focus on, rather than just allowing myself to do whatever sparks joy. I hadn't fallen completely in the trap, but it was starting to set roots for sure. I am going to go make sure I pull that weed before it gets too rooted.
