From this video, I’m understanding my ego-mind as a little child, vulnerable and scared, with my true nature comforting and reassuring. “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” This reversal feels very joyful to my body. Thank you very much to the question and the answer.

The power of pain and suffering that uses fear to defend itself, forever imprisoning you. If you ever want out of pain and suffering, you must let go of your fear. You will discover it was no more real than your belief of it. And beyond this fear, a life without pain and suffering awaits, at peace and happy. Dont be afraid to let go of fear. You can always return to it if you like. But, you won't.😊

Sometimes all you need to do is to stop pondering over every notion that rises up in awareness. Get liberated from the unnecessary worry of what's up.. pondering over and worring about it wont make it go away.. it will leave on its own as soon as you let it go... stop grasping 😀 and you're free.. of it..

The common mind is not able to understand this. Buddhist teachers should take this in consideration and have the most respect for our limited view. I mean I want nothing more then to let go of the suffering and of my limited identity but I just can’t even begin to understand what that means, or how to do it. I can’t separate awareness from the experience of the mind not I can even understand it …

a newborn child doesn't know it needs protection; it is those mature bodies around who provide protection because they are made to do so- they have no choice. Letting go of the mind sounds like a choice of renouncing thought through logic and rationalization, controlling the mind [through the mind], which is not possible; letting go means looking beyond/behind the incessant chattering of the mind, ignoring it. While this also creates discomfort, similar with that of quitting an addiction, it is less difficult and with greater chances of success than the imagined 'active doing' of letting go. Fighting the mind with the mind has zero chances of success. Similarly, 'going to the self that cannot be hurt' is not an 'active doing' but rather a passive one through the ignoring of that which can be hurt [the mind] by witnessing it without reacting emotionally or otherwise.

When we are young children we have no defences. We have an innocence that gradually erodes as the actions of others condition us. Therefore it is not surprising that as adults, we are reluctant to return to what we may regard as a childlike vulnerability. I understand what Rupert means when he says that there is a place where nothing and no one can harm us but we live in a world of narrative and mind and people will continue to try and find ways of pushing their pain on to each other, whether we are awakened or not. Therefore I think it is important that we also carry an approach of compassionate assertiveness and critical thinking with us into our awakened state. This doesn't mean that we should be less awake, it is simply an acknowledgement that we live in a world that is constructed mostly through mind and narrative and that we need techniques in order to live in that world as well as being able to understand our seperateness from that world. More importantly it will help us to stay in the awakened state and not fall back into our pain bodies. www.holisticactivism.net

to clear the mind you just have to trust it and let it the fuck alone be aware of what you are doing breathing your sensual experience or what ever but let the mind the fuck alone... like how would you feel if there is always someone who watches you and judges you and argue with you the mind does his job the best if u dont always look at it

It seems the ‘personnel’ department of the mind, the problematic identity engineering department is always the problem. The mind is happy with any identity, it works with what is available, environment etc, and builds an identity that we believe we are. Some are better than others but they’re all problematic. Once conditioning and identity have formed it is fiercely protected. Why? Isn’t this strange. First we can recognise the identity. Then we must transcend it. But no matter how much suffering the identity causes (or is made of) it is protected. For without it who are you? From the minds point of view, you disappear, you die, this is the river of fear that must be crossed, the letting go of who you believe you are.
@heikeahlbory1738
@heikeahlbory1738 4 жыл бұрын
Why it is so fiercely protected? Because it was formed by the fear if death.. It's a survival mode. Therefore not to be underestimated. To resolve it we have to feel the sheer fear of dying. Difficult to do that voluntarily. 🍃❤

😢that is me also.. how than get rid off the defense and wall of pain and fear?... your answer, Rupert, will be “To go to the Self, to be the Self”... But here is vicious circle: this wall of pain doesn’t let myself to be the Self... it doesn’t let me realize Real Self. A person who is behind the wall of pain for his whole life sees everything through these lenses... 😢it is no more possible for such a person to comeback to real Self... this “wall” doesn’t let in 😢

What he says is true and she knows it, after all that was her stance and her problem, that she can’t let her fear go, because she is identified with it. But what can she do? She can only try to stay in the witnessing detached presence, but when the identification and its grip is released is unknown if ever, even though she recognises the issue, she can’t fix it really, there’s nothing Rupert can say to help, offering logical advise and logically providing the info is not her problem, she can’t use it.

In the advaita realm, it seems a given that the word 'Mind' describes the thinking process or Mind =Thoughts. jiddu Krishnamurthy uses very different language. Of Mind he states that it is not a mechanical process, not a product of thought and not of time, and ONLY when the nature of thought is totally explored, the source of thought and all it's activities, can the nature of mind be explored. JKM almost never uses the word awareness, and listeners may conclude that the word awareness is not different to JKM's definition of mind. In all my years around advaita teachers, I have rarely heard the word brain, even as JKM says it is the source of thought, is of time and thinking is a mechanical process of the brain. The deeper questions are is it beneficial to continue to use the word mind when the meaning is clearly about thought,?. Even the title of this clip adds to the presumption that Mind = thoughts.

What you will not hear rupert say is that this is really only possible for the financially secure. For the half of the population that is starving economically and cannot make ends meet and is constantly forced into a state of anxiety and fear of not being able to provide for themselves and their family, good luck with surrender and letting go. There are the eckhart tolles of course who can turn it into a book deal, but for most of us this just isnt going to happen. I dont disagree with anything rupert says but for most people it is premature. We do not currently live in a world that supports spiritual freedom, in fact nearly all its forces are aligned against it.
@joeserianz6205

I believe what much of what Rupert teaches is premature for many people. Many would be better off to start with teachers like Byron Katie or Teal Swann and then seek out teachers like Rupert. Advaita is for those wanting and are ready for the final dissolving and integration of the ego.
@robmaric
@robmaric 5 жыл бұрын
I think you won't hear Rupert say it because it is absolutely untrue. It costs no money to close your eyes and notice the nature of your experience. It costs no money to see that your suffering is an illusion. It's not easy work, it will take persistence, but it will never cost you money. You can do it with a broken leg. You can do it with anxiety. You can do it in the deepest fear. You can do it while working a horrible job. You can do it while you're starving to death. In fact, under such circumstances, the teachings of non-duality are an incredible gift which have set many free.

The great American sage Robert Adams once said that one of the most enlightened beings he ever met worked and owned a tavern in New York City, and Robert had studied directly with Ramana Maharshi for years. It's enlightened beings (to whatever degree) that meet the common folk and shine their radiance on them that helps awaken the seed in their hearts. Money has nothing to do with that.
