OMG, I just remembered; my daughter’s daddy, my beloved hubby, died of cancer shortly after she started kindergarten. Of course I was all kinds of a disaster for months, but I worked very hard to seem okay in front of the kids (she has an older half-brother; he was 13 at the time) so they wouldn’t be too scared… well, her “Poppy” (her father’s father) caught COVID at her daddy’s viewings, went into a slow downhill spiral, and died 4.5 months later. This was less shattering to MY life, of course, but I still cried a bit, and this time I let her see, to let her know that it is okay to be sad and cry! Her response was to say “It’s okay, Mommy!” and wrap her little arms around me! So I stopped again, because I didn’t want her to feel like she had to take care of me… parenting is tough, folks! 😮‍💨

My Mother breastfed my half sister but because I was a premie and extended hospital stay I was bottlefed. In the end, the main thing is the feeling of love, the security of touch and the comfort of being close. That you are upset over this Kay, shows what a wonderful Mother you are. I know what a let down it is when your body can’t do one of the things it was literally made for. I couldn’t breastfeed my daughter due to previous breast reduction surgery, PCOS and short nipple syndrome. I felt like I was letting her down but the truth was I was doing the very best for her and I gave her every drop I had for as long as I had. You are doing the best you can and Taylor is right, she will love you because you’re her mom and she knows how much you love her! You’re amazing!
