The last dessert you ate is called Halva. There are a few different types of Halva. But this one is made from toasted semolina and a honey syrup. Usually we put almonds and cinnamon on it too. I make this at home it is pretty simple. I love to add some orange zest.

Is there a tipping culture in Greece? In the US, all my friends who worked in restaurants would of course recommend the most expensive stuff because of the potential tip. However, if there’s no tipping culture, then it could just be what he actually recommends?

@@VivianTheCat Lol why are you gatekeeping food? Turkey and Greece are neighbours and most probably their food culture influenced each other. People like you make me cringe so bad, it really isnt hard to get educated on these topics, we live in 2023. Come on...

To the uneducated people in the comments that did not make any effort to add up the prices and say the food was expensive: the whole meal was less than 50 dollars (around 45 euros) with enough food fot two people. And you call this expensive???? Please do not come, we have 35 mil tourists per year, would not mind losing some cheapos.

people aren’t uneducated just because they 1. didn’t wanna do math? 2. because they made a comment on a youtube video of a thought that went through their head. stop taking everything so personal and go outside.

@@crystaldelacruz1335 I am going outside plenty. And yes people are uneducated and bored and they express opinions without doing basic math, which I did. You can thank me for that.

You never know where these people are from. Things that are cheap to you are expensive to others. But yes if you are going to eat at these places, you need to keep in mimd the cost and what you can afford. However, it was rude to speak to them like this without knowing the intent.

50 dollars for a meal is cheap omg here in India I could go to a fancy restaurant and that would be my cost for a meal for 5-6 people maybe there that is cheap

@@furkan4521 their history is not only the Ottoman Empire. Greeks (Alexander the Great), Armenians (Armenian Kingdom), Assyrians/Levantine Arabs (Assyrian Empire, Phoenicians etc.) Kurds/Persians (Median Empire, Persian Empire, Sassanid Empire etc.) All these people already had their traditional dishes such as Lahmacun which is called „turkish“ pizza while the Assyrians had a recipe for it 2000 years ago & even the name is semetic not Turkic. Also my favorite example: Pickles (Turşu) which is iranic (kurdish/persian) which comes from the name sour - tirş/turş (in Kurdish/Farsi). You Turks also stole a lot even the Germans had a word for it „getürkt“. Also don’t forget. You’re linguistically turkish but genetically you’re not 🧬🇬🇷🇦🇲🇮🇷🇬🇪🇸🇾🇸🇦
