I said before that Dark Shadow is basically having an extremely powerful younger sibling handcuffed to you. And yeah, I still stand by that.

I love that Montana doesn't believe for a second that Bakugo or Tokoyami would ever be tempted by villainy. I've heard so many people being like "Oh? Bakugo villain arc??" But, clearly, they haven't paid attention to the intentions behind his anger. Bakugo's anger is RIGHTEOUS anger and always aimed towards a proper goal, not pointless rage.

I don’t remember how they said it in the dub, but Mr. Compress’ name could be pronounced either way, with the emphasis on either syllable. In Japanese they don’t emphasize syllables the same way, so either way is correct. Same with Present Mic. Could say “Present” like a present 🎁, or you could say “present” like the verb “to present”.

I specifically enjoy this episode (and this arc really) bc it gives Shoji and Tokoyami some time to shine. 😊 They’re two of my favorite characters in the series - background characters deserve love too! 😭

Not sure if its been said already but Awase(the boy running with Momo) actually was using his quirk the entire time. He welded his skin to hers so that itd be physically impossible for him to leave her behind.

I remember finding you on tik tok and then donating for the camera upgrade and watching as you developed your own style of video. I don’t watch all the series but I have watched some new shows with you guys and that feels special. Keep doing what you’re doing!

This episode is CRAZY. And things just do NOT settle down here. It just comes out swinging with Dark Shadow’s full beast mode as your opener. This is bar none one of Shoji’s best moments. He’s such a quiet background character, but here this guy is not even complaining about getting one of his duplicate arms lopped off in the blink of an eye, AND managing to perceive and react to maximum Dark Shadow in pitch black conditions! And now we know why Tokoyami is not the most emotional guy either. Dark Shadow is shackled to his emotions as well as his light. And once he has an actual outburst, Dark Shadow shackles HIM and not the other way around. And all this decision making is happening as Dark Shadow BLINKS away full grown trees. Shoji believes that choices need to be made on who saves what in this situation to resolve the problems, even willing to let Deku GO to help Bakugo. Deku on the other hand, has NO such belief. Shoji under these conditions OUTRUNS a vanishing forest behind him as Dark Shadow just ANNIHILATES EVERYTHING. And they just run him straight into Moonfish whose attacks have happened in a blink of an eye as well with how he propels himself. And he just RIPS HIS TEETH OUT as he launches him out of the way. These guys must only be able to see the SLIGHTEST of silhouettes as this all goes down. Neither Todoroki OR Bakugo could attack Moonfish in their environment and aren’t able to use their full quirks. And Bakugo gets IMMENSE satisfaction watching Dark Shadow just DRAGS the guy through 4 full grown trees before putting a stop to the beast. And just for reference sake, in pure night, Dark Shadow IS more powerful than Bakugo. But Bakugo can eliminate the beast mode. Do I think the 5 of them can go against All-Might? GOD no. But they DO have the capacity to escort Bakugo even with all these villains running loose. (And once again, although Bakugo is whining about the situation, he listens and follows orders in this lineup.) Toga is our next major villain. And she’s CRAZY. Based on her blood obsession, she must have Reinfield’s syndrome. She’s a real life vampire and broken ethics to match. She has DOZENS of victims based on what the broker said about her at the end of last season. And Uraraka thankfully has the close combat reflexes to deal with her in short spurts. Toga’s quirk remains unknown for now. But she DOES confuse Uraraka’s healthy crush on Deku (even though she hasn’t accepted those feelings are real yet) with a common imitation, and Toga’s FULL BLOWN obsession. Which more sounds like she wants to wear her crush’s skin. And Uraraka thankfully didn’t lose anymore blood from being stopped by the escort crew. Unlike what Tsu says, combat is on the table because Aizawa would rather the kids protect each other and be able to prevent the students from being ambushed if they seek the fights. And that’s better because a successful sneak attack from these villains spells the end of any of the kids. Self defense quirk usage is always authorized. They COULD have tried to stop Toga and knock her out because it would be too dangerous to have her possibly be someone else’s opponent that’s not expecting her. Mr. Compress is the next villain on the table putting a stop to the escort. And thankfully not because Bakugo ran off like EVERYONE always assumes. He DID comply. He reminds me of a conman from the 1800s. “Step right up and drink this magic mystery monkey juice! It’ll be sure to cure you of the sniffles!” And he thankfully reveals a few VERY important details. Bakugo was the only official target, and they wanted to capture him. Not on the hitlist. (We don’t know if Ragdoll is on the hitlist OR the capture list but we do know she was singled out much faster than everyone else.) Tokoyami wasn’t in anyway meant to be targeted but his destruction of leveling a TON of land is inspiring to the villains as well. The hitlist only comprises of Deku and Iida as far as we can tell along with the teachers. So we’ve gotten the full picture now. Dabi is the clear leader of this crew though. He’s demonstrated enough use to be have a freaking Nomu designed EXACTLY to him. And his firepower is doing more than anything by pinning the kids on the field. The only trait I can pick up is he is antisocial disorder. Twice it’s a BIT more obvious. Not bipolar disorder but take it a step further. If all the continuous swapping of body language, conversation beats, and pretty much anything he does is always skewed in complete opposite directions he must have multiple personality disorder. It’s a very famous disorder that many make fun of, but it’s real. The famous voices in your head that take enough hold of your personality it manifests as a “different person.” Aoyama has Jiro and Hagakure unconscious. Yet ANOTHER group of supremely helpful kids in this situation off the board. Aoyama has some serious repressed fear though. He can’t even bring himself to engage. Smart choice since he’s VERY outmatched by Dabi and Twice. And Kurogiri is even shuffling around others like the remaining Pussycats, Spinner and Magne now. Deku and Momo are keeping everything together. Momo has given everyone gas masks and has Awase fuse a tracker to his its skin. Hate to say thank god Compress caught Bakugo but if he didn’t, that Nomu would have ended them both. (And Awase welds things. Including his skin to Momo’s and now this tracker. Weird quirk) Deku is an UNSTOPPABLE force in this episode making the plan to stop Dark Shadow, the escort plan which ordinarily WOULD work, and now this plan to stop Mr. Compress. Every single character that comes across Deku wants him to stop but he STILL keeps going and forcing them to act with him to save others. Not by unwillingness but more to the point everyone knows better than to try and out will his effort to save others. But he DOES allow himself to be stopped for Uraraka to make him splints. The ONLY person he stops for is her. But Deku is the absolute MVP on this night so far. If everyone remained separated without Deku, pretty much every battle but Mustard vs Kendo and Tetsu would have gone the villain’s way regarding the kids. Moonfish and Toga likely would have fulfilled their goal, so that’s the death of Todoroki and capture of Bakugo. And 3 people’s blood being drawn. Likely Tsu, Uraraka, and someone else. But we STILL aren’t out of the woods. In fact we’re deeper in the woods now! Todoroki, Shoji, and Deku are going against SEVERAL of the big villains now! Time is short and the kids just successfully surrounded themselves too. This is full on crisis and if Deku falls unconscious at any point here, they’ve got an unconscious hit target right before their eyes to get out AS WELL as Bakugo and Tokoyami. This is a worst case scenario even with villains like Muscular and Moonfish off the board. If all 7 remaining villains unite right here, it’s 7 on 3. And I HATE to suggest it but Deku may have ANOTHER broken arm use on the horizon. But we’ll have to wait til next time for that possibility.

It feels like she is to afraid to break the rules. It’s similar to how iida is. Tsu doesn’t believe in having to bend the rules if it means doing the right thing. She sees it that anyone who breaks the law is basically a villain no matter how good their intentions are. Had she actually fought Toga with ochaco then they probably would’ve been able to beat her and capture her. She also failed to realize that not trying to stop toga means that it’s possible for toga to run off and hurt other students. One of the constant things I always say when watching this series is that you might have to bend the rules a bit to do the right thing.
