The original series had a few as well. Especially a certain brother-sister team among the main cast (and another, much more dysfunctional brother-sister "team" that spent far more time fighting each other than working together even before the brother switched sides). The Water and Fire siblings would have had some interesting interactions whenever all four of them met in adulthood...especially since the elder brothers ended up being fairly close to each other as well as heads of state, while the younger, gifted sisters definitely are NOT on good terms with each other (and are generally an annoyance or a pain for their respective siblings)

just for clarification, Ghazan is an earthbender specialised in lava bending. He essentially vibrates the molecules of earth with enough force to melt them. Also Zaheer and co. essentially use something described by the wiki as Vagabond bending. They were street fighters, hence his cauliflower ear, and picked up different techniques during their travels. He is essentially adding air bending to his pre-existing MMA skills.

The show does a really great job with keeping random side characters relevant and have them contribute to the story in smaller but not less meaningful ways. It's part of what makes me feel so in love with this fictional universe, it's so well crafted in every single way. It feels "alive", because it's not just a solo-show like for example Dragonball and a lot of other anime, where only the main character has the spotlight.

I think the style that Zaheer’s doing in his airbending is the martial art that he knew as a nonbender. His airbending style is more aggressive than usual, and more offensive. Airbenders usually have a style of dodging attacks and are more defensive.

Probably some kinds of martial art inspired by airbenders, since he seemed to already have learned a lot about the culture/ mentality behind hit. Aitbending was the perfect tool handed to him, but he probably was a Mai/Ty Lee level threat before.

So I think the best way to explain why Zaheer is such a proficient airbender, would be that bending styles aren't much more then martial arts styles. Even not being a bender one can still learn the moves. Zaheer has proved he has studied past airbenders out of what seems like an appreciation for them. Then he had years of solitary confinement to practice and meditate.

The hot guard they keep showing (With the mole) is the head of security in the city. They name her later in the season. She was also one of the dancers when we first meet Su, I think even her main dance partner.

It was this episode that made me realize just how creative the action in season 3 was compared to the previous seasons. Books 1 and 2 didn’t have BAD action, but the scenarios often boiled down to who can hit harder. Here, the use of geography and bending and planning is so much fun.

I think Lins "don't lecture ME about jobs" is a callback to season 1 where she risked her job as Chief to protect korra and has been doing so ever since. Lin has taken on the job of protecting korra in the same way Toph did for aang.

Yes. I love this episode. I have an obsession with the main character getting beaten or kidnapped by very powerful people and then they have to get that person back or that person has to recover. Idk why I enjoy it so much. THE FIGHT SCENE AND ANIMATION IS SOOOOO GOOD!!!!
