I didn’t care about Star Trek: TNG as a kid until I saw LeVar on there. Mom told me that LeVar had a new name, and I didn’t understand why my TV reading buddy with the crazy butterfly was blind but could see but just in pretend… Or why he had given up his name to be “Geordi”-LeVar was the coolest name I had ever heard-but that was my “in” to the show.

And how long until that happens? First it happened in schools, and people said "oh, you can still get them from the library or buy them". Now the bans are happening in libraries, so now we only hear "Oh, but you can still buy them!" Book bans serve one purpose, to keep certain people in power and certain people ignorant.

It's sickening now, with the memory of the song that I heard so many times when my child was watching, to know that this was the plan. 🏳️‍🌈 I read some literature exposing the exact methods used for grooming, and I saw the musical warning of "coming for your children", Surely AP is aware of all of this, and that those books are not appropriate for children.

I think something to keep in mind is that the nonsense said by the GOP hasn't actually changed. Congress tried to stop giving funding to public television and radio in the 90's when Republicans had power, and one of the reasons was that these public places were "propaganda" People hated reading Rainbow and Mr. Rogers back then for the same reason they hate them now.
