Ok this is genius. I never considered using the grafted blade greatsword - I started a fresh level 1 (no serpent hunter) and I used the flamberge (pretty easy to get) with flame of redmanes in it. That’s actually very strong as an alternative option to claymore or whatever might be used before acquiring the grafted sword. One thing I did, I wanted to do the Varre quest to access the rune farm area near moghwyn palace but it’s very hard to get into invasions at RL1 if you have +12 weapons! So… I forced myself to get as far as killing Godrick with +0 gear just to access the Varre invasions as a ‘legit’ level one dude. And…it worked. It also made me realise I’ve actually got better at the game. Cheers for the great content, hope my story entertained you!

After doing this so many times, I have personally found that, instead of going through Raya Lucaria and doing the Volcano Manor skip at the bottom, I prefer to just start Rya's and Blackguard's questlines. Takes what? all of about 1000 runes a maybe 5 mins? Then, when you use the Dectus Lift, Rya will be standing right outside the lift on the Altus side. You can talk to her and she will teleport you to the Manor, taking you straight to the Grace in front of Tanith AND it automatically opens the door to the front of the Manor, allowing you a quick trip to the Road of Iniquity and the Map Fragment. Plus, you can make your way through the Manor, snagging the Prison Town Church grace and opening the door. From there, take a right and make your way all the way around, grabbing your 6 and 5 on the way, until you get to the Godskin fight and the drawbridge. Activate the bridge as normal and now you have a shortcut from the Grace to the boss if you die instead of having to jump off that cliff again and drink 2 potions before ever starting the boss fight. It's hardly a detour and really doesn't seem to take much longer or any more effort than the Raya skip. Matter of fact, I'd argue that it's not only a little quicker, but easier and allows you to open up doors in Volcano Manor that you would not have been able to open using the skip. After Godskin, you can proceed to the 7 as normal.

If you go up the ladder after somber 6 you can jump through the window and get that grace before going up to the elevators (the locked door at the top of the ladder). It's a really easy jump

I got to say, this build has helped me tremedoulsy in the game. I might shoot myself in the foot right now, but I have come further than I've ever done, by getting this weapon (and leveling, not doing the level 1 thing), and I'm in the process of running through Elden Australia, and accually enjoying myself. Thanks, man. For giving a mediocre player a chance of experiencing more than Limgrave :D

Coincidently I started a level 1 playthrough a little after the patch, I was still able to do the bridge jump skip to volcano manor after a few more tries and I took care of the godskin noble using +7 claws and a few sleep pots and got to rykard just fine!

for more experienced players . You can just kill the godskin noble early . I found a parry kill on the noble to be extremely easy . just rush margit , grab buckler and misericord and go to town on noble . the only annoying thing about the fight is the long run back and the uber inconsistent rolling attack. (yes i know you can do about 4-5 pretty precise roll throughs or running to the right but both of these strategies become pretty sketch if noble randomly gets stuck on a pillar)

So my friend i play with has his main character glitched in roundtable so we made the last build by ysing my main for the serpent hunter and then he used sleeping pots in my world. Later on he gave me his uchigatana and i put cold on them and stagger bosses pretty easily as well as have bleed and frost buildup. We also added the jellyfish shield to add an extra buff. Love your shit man! Probably gonna mess around with this build this weekend.

Haha. I totally did a similar build on my first playthrough. I had a small straightsword with Golden Vow Ash of War on it which I would use for the buff, then swap with either the Claymore with Bloodhound Step or the Grafted Greatsword with the Radagon talisman. Eventually I just went double greatswords, swapping in and out a dagger with Golden Vow. Once I learned how it felt to roll with either the Grafted Greatsword or the double greatswords, I was crushing most bosses. I killed Gideon first try on my first playthrough in under 15 seconds, Renalla's second phase in half a minute. Most bosses died in under a minute. Only Maliketh, Malenia, and Hoarah Loux gave me a lot of trouble, in that order. I beat the game in 17 days doing this build, and the last RPG I had played before was Oblivion. I agree completely with what you are sharing.

I literally just started the serpent hunter build and was looking for tips on the jump lol I thought about the grafted sword too! But i think I found a better option, at least for me. The Bloodhound's Fang! At +9 it has almost 500 AR by itself, but it also has bleed and can be buffed with resins! (I'll have to cheese O'Neil to get the other +5 dex medallion)

I like the fang as well, but I really like the defensive buff on the grafted blade, gives you the toughness of something 50-100 levels higher

To wrong warp for PC users. Take portal, once at crumbling teleport to Roundtable. When screen is loading hit alt + f4.

@@wildhogs2849 Dude he is using a +9 somber weapon to showcase the damage on early game bosses where you have somber weapon upgrade at like +1 or +2. Notice how he didn't show the full equipment menu and only his stats at the start during his damage showcase ? Regardless the build still does good damage.
