It looks like you’re not running a rack and pinion, any reason you haven’t switched to one?
@level7motorsports3 жыл бұрын
When we initially built this truck no one made a chassis for it. A rack and pinion conversion on the stock chassis makes the steering geometry worse. Our Lee box is much faster than your typical rack.

Awesome build!! Would it help to move the radiator to the back?
@level7motorsports4 жыл бұрын
Slighty but it wouldn't outweigh the work or possible issues. If you think about it, it would take more coolant, more line, possibly an electric pump, additional brackets, etc. So total weight would go up and could have over heating issues to deal with.

Level 7 Motorsports with a rear mounted radiator though the lines (i would imagine) would be ran under the truck along the frame. So even if it did add weight wouldn’t it be low cog weight?

I'm studying your setup. I own a 1971 Chevy C10 shortbed that I want to get started in autocross. With your experience, What is your advice for a budget minded starting point?
@level7motorsports4 жыл бұрын
With a budget I would recommend buying a wide ride front end and fat bar 4 link from No Limit Engineering. I would recommend this only if your doing the build. If your having a shop build it for you, then you need to jump to their full chassis. You will get much more for your money. Feel free to email us with any more questions or help with ordering parts!

This truck has the factory 12 bolt with an Eaton Truetrac, Mosier axles, and gears. Wilwood Aero4 calipers and 14" rotors as well.

What’s your thought on long beds going autocross?
@level7motorsports4 жыл бұрын
The wheelbase of a short bed truck is already bad enough to autocross. A long wheel base just cant pivot and turn.
