War mode doesn’t exist in the original game. It was a new addition in BFA. You had specific servers for PvP. If you were on that server and not in your starter zones, the 1-20ish zones, you were PvP flagged. Barrens and Loch Modan was safe. Wetlands and Thousand needles were not.
