It is sad to see the Griswold Barriers and Incandescent Lights gone but it was always going to happen. In fact given the condition of the barriers I am surprised that it wasn’t done sooner.

Of you have time Alex can you please do a retake of the Plimmerton pedestrian crossings again because I want to see the level crossing again.
@erincummins26952 жыл бұрын
According to Jamie Tane, both of those pedestrian level crossings have been removed (I also believe that the LED Train Coming lights from that pedestrian crossing that used to have the Dutch EBA E-Bells were recycled from there)

@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 there are too many wch bells in nz why government want that
@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 Жыл бұрын
@@thunderbolttdmplayz6750 Because all the railways in NZ are managed by the same entity - KiwiRail. It's not like in America where there are multiple competing companies that all buy equipment from wherever they want. With only one entity looking after everything, you naturally end up with everything being the same, as KiwiRail buys gear from WCH. We also use WCH barriers, and recently started using WCH lights as well.

What I've also noticed is that I'm pretty sure this crossing had the setting where the bells stop before the barriers raise, that setting is gone
@the_alex_ellis_channel69232 жыл бұрын
Yes, that was the case. KiwiRail appear to not be using that anymore.
@liftrailphotographyinnz39922 жыл бұрын
@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 Yes they are not using it as crossings upgraded within the last 5 years or so such as Roberts Line and SH49 Tangiwai no longer use it as well as many others.

Could be wrong, But i think Beach road Paekakariki has the bells still stop before the barriers raise, Can confirm that next time i am out that way if you like. If that is the case then its deffently the last road level crossing in our area.

You should do an update video on this, quite a bit of work done over the weekend, including a partial crossing at the southern end of the station
@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I have been wanting to come back here for ages, but each week, either the line is closed, the weather is shit or I am just too busy (I won't have time this weekend, for example) I need good weather as well, as no way I am standing around a level crossing getting wet for the sake of a video, lol. I'm also limited to weekends, since I work full-time - KZbin is just a hobby and life has to come first.

Victoria, Australia is in the middle of demolishing almost all level crossings in the city and eventually adding at least two new long-distance subways

In my country incandesent lights at road level crossings are actually super commen.

Gotta love those fast ebells. Also I'm guessing that the ebells are ringing fast to diffienciat from Australia cause it's been in use way before Kiwi Rail.

Kiwirail has always used mostly American-made equipment, using Griswold originally as well as a few other companies, and currently gets equipment from Western-Cullen Hayes.
