Great tutorial.. I actually started My Career as an Amateur and started with The Masters tournament.. built up my Golfer by playing the Challenges and currently have him at a 73 rating.. It's been challenging so far not only because of the wind elements in this 1st round (12-14 mph) but the most annoying part is that you can't skip the opening cut scene with the ceremonial drives smh.. wish EA had an option to skip that part

I’ve been very mixed on it so far. The ability of your golfer starting off is pure hell. The lag in the swing is borderline insane. That lag means more early on. As I’ve progressed I’ve found that both I find the spots to account for it plus it is less impactful thru the skills progression. I’ve stuck with it and it has improved as I’ve learned its nuances but it’s a bit too steep first out.

Not even done with my first year and my character is already a 92 overall. Shot -41 at St. Andrews in the U.S. Open. The game gets super easy after a while.

Respawn is awesome. I discovered him by accident, but his vid on teaching his version of how to swing with the controller stick. It was a game changer for me. No more splattering all over the place because of my thumb. I can now control my shots multiple times better. THANKS!!!

I spent over an hour on one of the harder challenges last night. 😅 Really enjoying this game. It's definitely less repetitive as 2k, and better looking IMO. One thing I'm still getting used to is how SLOW the backswing is. Hopefully they'll come up with other speeds/animations with future updates. My strategy is to complete as many challenges as possible before starting career. But not necessary that's just me. Thanks for this great video. Subscribing

I have been doing this and it has worked. Great content and also teaches you little things about the game. Learned that if you adjust the landing mark your power levels changes. So there is a lot that you learn by doing the challenges.

@@robt90: If you move the cursor or the landing spot before the shot, the full shot applies to the location you had the cursor. This is when you press the triangle button before or even during the time you address the ball. Also does not mean where the shot will end up. The type of shot you make and the roll also has to be factored in. You really have to have a golf IQ to play this game or develop one through the challenges that teach you the shots.

I''m not sure why you're calling that section a tutorial. It's not a tutorial. They don't tell you how to do anything. They just say "do it". They don't explain anything. But yeah it's a good place to grind out some XP.

They are moving you towards not only using all the shot types but to use draw and fade in the game. If pushing you into trying all the shot types and see how they react to the course isn't an extended tutorial, I don't know what is.

This game is so not beginner or casual friendly. I’m not new to golf games, not a pro either, more a casual golf game, and the career mode is tough on the recommended pro level. Balls roll left and right off the greens. Approaches sometimes stop dead on landing, other times roll ridiculous lengths. All that with no feedback on what you’re doing wrong, making getting beter at it almost impossible…

I've been doing this as well and when I get bored I play a round in quick play, then get back on the grind. I want my golfer to be somewhat decent before I start the career mode. One question though, does the branded equipment make your golfer better too, or is equipment purely cosmetic?

Purely cosmetic from what I seen. The only way to improve equipment is through “specs” which you earn through rewards. And well upgrading your golfer

Good content, I was grinding a little bit and doing some of these things, but not all of them. I had avoided the pay for tourneys, because I was hoarding cash just in case I need it….but I need to start using all these methods. Additionally, I may step down in level. I noticed when I did that in 2k I learned things about the various shots, even though I was going to do most of my playing at masters level.

Thanks for the info! I had a question.. have you found a way to maintain consistency of bounces/rolls on approach shots into the green? I've found that using gold finesse shots have been pretty accurate, but I can never control what's going to roll out of the green, or stop right where it initially lands. Obviously higher trajectory balls don't bounce/roll as much. But shot shaping doesn't seem to affect this that much. Or am I wrong? Lol would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again!

I’ve noticed using “approach” shots they tend to stick or even zip back. Landing the ball on an upslope it will zip back. Landing on a downslope will roll out more.

Max your control on approach, driving and short game. By far the most important stat in the game. Also save your in game currency for the PGA player specs in the store. They cost 18,000 but are so worth it. Don’t waste money on clubs, clothes or any other other specks. Only get the ones that are 18,000. I can stick my approach shots right where I want them now. Hope this helps

The physics on EA Sports PGA Tour is terrible. I have had approach shots only using a wedge. I didn't even swing at full strength, the ball hits the green and rolls like 50 yards into the rough. That has happened more than once. That doesn't happen on 2k23. I don't feel that EA'S game doesn't teach me how to be a better player. EA needs to do patches to fix the problems with that and with putting. Take care.

Yea, I agree it's quite annoying. You have to learn not to swing full power and land the ball well short of the hole. I also don't like that it doesn't tell you how far each club is when you have a shot.

Have really been tuning into your content ever since EA PGA has been getting close to release. Appreciate the work! Would love for a video going over Brand Sponsors and how to best utilize those challenges and get most gear. Do you need to get 3 stars per level on each challenge to get polos, hats, clubs, etc? Good video and while I agree with the advice that everyone should do the coaching for the tutorial aspect, your advice is a bit misplaced for the "rest of us" by your superior skill level. Those of us at lower skill levels cannot just knock out an easy 3 stars on each challenge. It takes dozens of attempts and hours of retrying to get 3 stars on some of these challenges because all it takes is one little mistiming or movement of the stick and you're off the green, miss a putt, or whatever. And that means restarting from the beginning, and during that time you're not making any XP at all because only success pays off. And you miss out on half the XP if you're not perfect. I get more XP from just playing, because my failures don't take away the XP from my good shots.

Question: when you buy equipment, are you finding issues/bugs with equipping what you've purchased in the store to your bag? Case in point - I bought the Titleist T100 irons in the shop this morning. The display photo for the iron on the store page shows a 7 iron with the "7" pretty visible on top. When you go to the bag, I know you can apply the different iron "heads" (and shafts, grips) to each iron, and you can also swap out the iron from say a 3 iron to a 2 iron, hybrid etc. I'm not swapping out clubs, I'm just trying to apply the new head to the club, and it's creating an odd issue. When I go to apply the Titleist T100 iron to all of my irons, while the bag still shows my clubs as a 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 iron (with the relevant yardage gaps all still in place), the display on the bag page now shows each iron with the 7" iron image... so my 5 iron, with 5 iron yardage, graphically looks like a 7 iron in my bag. And in-game, my character will be swinging a "7" iron in the cut scenes even though I selected the 5 iron and the ball flew the expected distance as the 5 iron. Have you noticed the game doing this with other purchased clubs? Just a bug or just laziness on the devs part? Or are we seriously going to have to buy each "iron" from the store, one at a time, hoping to catch the 3, 4, 5, etc. when they randomly show up?

Very good mate, this was also the best and quickest way I found lower level, just farming those PGA Coaching Challenges...Tell me mate, what did you think of the Putting challenge 6, the very last one?? LMAO, That challenge is a rage enducing, controller across the room, fist banging the table experience which I still cant 3 star. Those 2 putts can go and do one, even dropping to a lower difficulty for the putt preview line is still silly inconsistant haha.

I think in 25-30hrs of gameplay ive had 10-15 perfects on my backswing and about the same on follow through. Never a perfect putt all around. Phantom breaks. And the camera angles are ridiculous. All easy patches. Just hope they listen to us

Thanks for the video. It will help me improve my player quicker. I did purchase the game after the trial copy expired. I love the graphics a lot. I think that increasing my player capabilities will make the game easier to play. Also, EA should have updates to fix some of the production errors. Take care.

At the main menu (where you see your golfer), look at the tabs at the top. If you have any rewards, you'll see a tab for them to the right of Quests. Just L1 or R1 over to it and open your reward boxes.
