This workout and video are ABSOLUTE FIRE! The phrasing is incredible. Thank you for sharing the knowledge of all the giants I'm trying to stand on the shoulders of but keep slipping off!! I appreciate the grip tape!!! If you ever need some Freddy Green style backing tracks like this, hit me up.

Thanks so much for this! I've coincidentally been deep diving into the Lester Young approach. Would love more videos on his phrasing approaches. His album with the Oscar Peterson Trio is 🔥! Thanks again for sharing!

Just brilliant, loved it. Thank you so much! PS: As this video is not already brilliant and takes lots of effort, I might have tip still. Before the lick if you could put bookmarks it would be way better, but this is just a cherry on the top.

Hi, I'm really inspired by this idea. I would like to offer a clarification question if that's okay: 1) Are you learning the licks by ear and repeating, or are you first learning it from a chart and then "working it out" as seen on the video? 2) Are you making spaces for you to repeat for the call and answer (which means your own jam tracks?) or how would I do this with the original tune? As I said, I'm really excited by your ideas, but I think the process for reproducing the method for other tunes could use more elaboration. I look forward to seen the next one...

Fantastic, i would love to get involved and practice, learn, but not sure what to do next. Do i just replay the video over and over? You mentioned soundslice app, how do i get the lesson on the app. Sorry for the questions but not to savy on the tech stuff. Cheers .

Couldn't we also consider this the Major Blues Scale? I thought that Lester pretty much used that one exclusively? Maybe with the inclusion of the 2nd note?

I've purchased a bunch of his courses. IMO, the best teacher for a guitarist is a saxophonist. You get phrasing that is so outside of you predictable pentatonic licks that it instantly ups your game!!!! Only challenge can be how well you can read music up and down the neck. Good luck JV!
@joevee5619 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ryan...I can't read music...but I think once I have the guitar in my hand, I need to figure out what the best neighborhood to hang out in...major pentatonic or minor pentatonic or arpeggio shapes and then try to repeat the licks
