I'm guessing since the Pay2Win factor got cranked up and Maxroll pulled out completely leaving no actual build sites anymore.... That the dedicated creators are still going to make content regardless? Seems like the game has steadily gone P2W eastern mobile trash as the years go on =( Sad, because I'm a huge ARPG fan and having a mobile option when not at computer would be great!

Imo the only p2w factor in the game is the Auction house. The expansion slots cost premium currency and are a "per season" purchase, you still get 2 pages to use, so that's like 18 ongoing sales you can do. The game is fairly f2p currently, especially with all characters/ classes available to play. I hope they keep the characters free, but I suppose I'll just enjoy this season of freedom and worry later. I'd advocate against the battle pass, but imo, it's probably the cheapest and most worthwile purchase you can make on the game. You get a hero/ class, some decent supportive items and 3-4 cosmetics, and enough currency to unlock another hero of your choice. The lootboxes/ gacha aspect is a total trap though, since it's 90% random useless crap (not even cosmetics), 11% crappy cosmetics and 0.000001% godroll luck. From my experience at least. I take the guaranteed unlocks over the gambling anyday.

I beat ss20 last season completely f2p (no legendary loot spirits). Yes its p2w, yes you dont need it at all if youre decent at the game

@@disbled I did my first pinnacle attempt in Aeterna... got my shit rocked.... HARD. Now I just play to enjoy myself/ spend time, I still make it to around 95 playing casually. The game is very repetetive, but so is Path of Exile and I play every season. At least Torchlight devs seem like they care about players to some degree, and the in game events are a nice touch overall.

There's a P2W drop pet in this game. To be more precise, it's a P2Faster. However, I've completed all the end content just by purchasing a season pass. This game has a lot of events every season, and if you play them consistently every season, you get quite a lot of legendary pet. I've used crystal pieces that I've acquired for free so far to earn a total of 4 season-only drop pet. Again, in the meantime, I've only purchased season passes. If you become skilled with the mechanics of this game, everything is possible without a drop pet. Of course, the very existence of a drop pet can be unpleasant. And I understand that.

@@disbled Yes you can technically maybe sometimes progress in any Gacha P2W game if you grind enough hours. Mobile gacha gaming is huge industry so people obviously like it. If you enjoy and want to support that predatory model then by all means, play this game!
