I've watched most of your videos now as we're just looking to buy a caravan, just want to say thanks for making them all, I've gone from knowing very little about caravans to being a caravan expert now. Can't wait for me the Mrs and our little girl to get away next year. 👍👍👍 Thanks again.

Hi, thanks for another great video. I leave outside of the uk mainland so seeing any product has to wait until we want to use the van (on the mainland) Videos like this really do demonstrate the product well enabling people like myself to make an educated decision about purchase and make the first use of a product so much easier. I really appreciate your videos as you've helped me cure/repair several issues on my van without the need to visit a professional. Thanks very much :)

I've been using this system on my twin axle caravan for a while now and it's a great idea! In my case I have wheel movers fitted which make the existing jacking points unusable, the jacking capability of this kit solved the problem! I had my kit sent out to New Zealand which made it an expensive purchase but it works and I've no regrets! Regards Mike

Watched this with interest as my most hated part of caravanning is levelling. We like to go to CL/CS sites and some of them can be a bit rough. The concern I have is that if it got a puncture while it was under the wheel then the caravan would have all it's weigh on that side's steadies.

hha just watched this video and was about to say the same then seen your post at the very top........What brought me to watch the video is that i have been reading a post where some people say to reverse on to the levelling ramp and others say to pull the van up on to to it something to do with the hand brake,
@AndrewWelsh-vu3qh8 ай бұрын
Hi Dan I have just been watching this video from 7 years ago and wondered if you still used the lock and level system until recently when you bought your twin axle.. What do you think of it 7 years on.
@miked19455 жыл бұрын
I have had one of these for a year now. Excellent piece of kit much easier than ramps or scissor type lifters.. Good when you have Alko locks to fit. No you dont need chocks as the bag wraps around fore and aft..( make sure brakes are on ) I use a car pump connected up to the caravan battery.. Have raised nearly 6" on occasions at 24psi. my van is 1500kg best - Mike

Hi Dan will you be doing a follow up on twin axle soon as you use a twin and single lock and level for levelling twin axle caravan But have seen no videos using both for levelling twin axle yet
@walterreed7175 жыл бұрын
Well done, I use this method exactly the same with my wooden planks! BTW plastic wood is much lighter than hardwood so I have two plastic planks for levelling (with the Alko wheel lock) cost Nil !

Is there any way to level a caravan if your level changes once on-site without hitching up and moving the van again?
@timdhines4 жыл бұрын
Would it not be better to drive forwards onto the airbag? By reversing the handbrake is disengaged so wondering if there's a chance it doesn't engage properly when you put it on.

would somebody be able to pinch it if they deflated it while being used, or would the suspension push the wheel down onto it? thanks Gary

Great insight into the product, awaiting your video on the twin axle version as ours is a twin axle caravan. Was looking at having the E&P levelling system fitted but the price is putting us of.

Sure thing Richard, The twin Axle video will show me firing the wheel locks to both wheels, and the challenges that little process throws up. (I'm sure as a twin axle owner - you are all too aware of the issue) Speak soon Dan

Have never seen this product here in NZ. How do you think this would go if used long term? I live in my caravan full time so wondering if this would work in that situation or would it be too much weight/pressure over such a long period of time?
@CaravanningwiththeCoxs7 жыл бұрын
Does the caravan it have to be hitched up when using it
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
Hi Oliver, no you don't need to be hitched up, but do ensure the caravan handbrake is on and the caravan is secure etc (try to wiggle the caravan - so ensure the brakes are engaged)
@mr.d73725 жыл бұрын
So you couldnt use it for a motirhome?
@lufenn2 жыл бұрын
What if it starts leaking? That would put a lot of pressure on the steadies i imagine

@triciayates82537 жыл бұрын
just watched this. Question? how do I use my wheel clamp with it?
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
HI Tricia, im unaware of which when clamp you have, but i would imagine clamping it on 1st then inflate the lock n level etc. It might be better to ask the folks at Lock n Level this question, and let them know which wheel clamp you have. Hope that helps Dan
@colinmurray91447 жыл бұрын
put your wheel clamp on the other side.

What about using this when in storage to reduce flat spots on tyres?
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
To be fair, if you're worried about the flat tyre issue, you're better off using one of these to get some axle stands under the caravan and taking the weight off the tyres completely. Take care Dan

What are wheel locks and why do you need to use them?
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
Wheel locks are used to lock the wheel to the axle. Its a security measure to prevent theft. You can see in the video the red block on the wheel, this bolts through the alloy and onto the chassis and then has a lock to prevent removal. Hope that helps
@Mick_45917 жыл бұрын

Are they tough enough on sites with gravel pitches?
@krissander17 жыл бұрын
that was my concern aswell
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
HI Edward, yes they are. as discussed in the video We placed some floor matting under the air bag before inflating. This reduces the risk of anything sharp damaging the surface. Either car rubber floor mats, or the floor mats you can get for the awning will be perfectly fine. I hope that helps Dan

How long did it take to get to 18psi Dan? Cheers Matthew
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew, This is obviously down to the compressor / tyre inflater you have and also how heavy the caravan actually is. IN this video - it took just about a minute to get the Lock 'n' Level to the correct height and at 18psi. Still quicker than using a ramp, the adjusting the wheel to get the lock on it ;-) Hope that helps Dan

Hi Darrin, Thank you for sharing - in terms of what this does in warm conditions, i am not 100% sure. it might be worth asking the folks at Lock n Level directly. Thanks again Dan

Can you not just release tyre pressure from the opposite tyre to make level then reinflate when you leave. much cheaper option
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
no, you will damage the sidewalls of the tyres. For a cheap option use a ramp, or planks to raise the "low side"
@mail2macca7 жыл бұрын
The Trudgians I was also considering a bottle jack to raise the low side. would that work ?
@TheTrudgians7 жыл бұрын
Yes, that would work well. jack up the 'van on the dedicated jack point, or if your van doesn't have them, as close as you can to the the end of the axle tube. Once raised, slip something under the tyre to keep the height up (like a plank), don't depend on or rely on the bottle jack to keep the height.
@clairetasker91817 жыл бұрын
We use the Milenco Aluminium Leveller, which we saw few years ago reviewed by Andrew Ditton, retails just under £100, so not cheap and does need some elbow grease lol
@stevezodiac491 Жыл бұрын
What i would worry about is some arsehole sticking a knife through it, or it punctures or leaks, when it is supporting your caravan, because it would draw attention. The bag then deflates and forces the steadies through your caravan floor ?
@TheTrudgians Жыл бұрын
Consider what happens if your tyre goes flat? It happened to us many years back whilst in storage. In reality there is enough twist in the chassis that as long as it’s resolved fairly quickly, (like within a hour or so) you can lift the steadies and resolve the issue.
@stevezodiac491 Жыл бұрын
Went for the Milanco mechanical leveller, a bit cheaper and mechanically more robust and permanent in my opinion. The basic unit only comes with a cheap ratchet and extension bar, so I bought a drill drive square extension from screw fix ( three sizes actually for about £3.60 ) and used a socket that i already had. The levelling only takes seconds now, then the jockey wheel front to back, seconds only again. After this the drill drive for the steadies, which is also very quick. I can't understand people paying £3500 for E & P, when the system i now have only cost a bit over £100 and is just as fast and easily accomplished. A drill drive also makes less noise for a shorter period than an air compressor, for when making those early morning moves, when other campers are still asleep. Very happy !
@stehume11 ай бұрын
for the early morning moves why would you need to use the compressor as thats for putting air in and net getting the air out @@stevezodiac491

It is a shame it is so expensive £120 ! or a set of ramps for £20 in comparison !
@TheTrudgians4 жыл бұрын
I will say it is easier to level and attach the Alko secure with this system, than a ramp.
