First job out of school as a machinist for Levi. Learned everything from cutting floor to dispatch. Good to get the history of the brand. Thanks

18:30 The opposite of planned obsolescence. Yes, I sell fewer units, but more people want my units, and my employees are kept busy while the competition either accepts the dregs or tries to improve. When the market is saturated and all I have left is repair and replace, then I find other units to make and sell.

Hey I wonder if you’d be interested in doing a video on my great uncle, Charles Barman. He was a British soldier in charge of supplying munitions to artillery in the battle for Hong Kong and became a Japanese prisoner of war enduring some awful treatment. He wrote a secret diary whilst imprisoned that is now published by Hong Kong University Press called “Resist to The End.” Check it out, you might be surprised at how this guy has flown under the radar for so long.

I wore Levi's for years until the quality of their jeans diminished. They lasted less than a year. My go to lean is now Lee's, I have two pairs and have been wearing them for over three years. It's sad to see a great product fall by the wayside. s

I used to wear Levi’s exclusively until in the 90’s they stopped selling them a truckstops. I asked the store manager why they stopped carrying them. He said Levi stopped it because it wasn’t the image they wanted to portray. So much for the working man image huh???

My first pair of real jeans were Levi’s back in 1975 I believe. Sophomore in high school and only wore them on Fridays. Now, unless I am going to church, that is all I wear…sometimes I wear them to church. First pair was Levi’s, now they are Gloria Vanderbilt or Walmart brand, as I work there and don’t want to ruin nice jeans. None are old as I have lost a good deal of weight and had to replace them often. Interesting video, thanks.

Many of the Levi’s jeans possibly still in the world now were made by ME! I worked in their factory in Scotland in the 80s and 90s, and I was a really fast machinist, I could do it all with my eyes closed. Not an exciting job, but it was a job. The ones I made would be classed as vintage or retro now 😂
