will a simple rash guard shirt/material protect against sea lice and box jellyfish stings? instead of wearing a full blown wet suit. we're just wading at the beach in thailand... not even snorkeling or diving. thanks
@coralkeyscuba9 күн бұрын
The official answer is yes but only if it keeps them away from your skin. Meaning if it is loose fitting, it is possible for sea lice to get inside the shirt. But more protection than most items. Box Jellyfish are seriously dangerous. So If I went in the water knowing they were present I would wear a full length suit. It wouldn't have to be thick in warm water but a skin would be preferred. Hope this helps. Be safe, Freddy

Are these the same as "fishing shirts" ?
@coralkeyscubaАй бұрын
Great question. Sorry for the delay I was diving. They are not really the same but close. So they both perform the same function. Block sun, dry quickly, ease putting on wetsuits etc. But the major difference is the material used to make them stretchy. Fishing, biking, wrestling, shirts are made with tiny fibers of rubber inside the Lycra or poly material. No problem except Salt water eats rubber. The finer the strand of rubber the quicker it breaks down. Those specifically made for scuba diving are made with strands of silicone instead of rubber. Small difference but huge in the durability of the shirt when being used to scuba dive. Now, can you use a fishing shirt to scuba dive? Yes, but you need to rinse it thoroughly in fresh water as quickly as possible. You still need to rinse the dive shirt but not as crucial to do following the dive. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Freddy

@@coralkeyscuba Thank you for the reply as I am starting to get into this "diving" hobby and lifestyle and I am thankful to see channels like yours for me to learn from.

Loved the superhero rash guards and some of the others but I cannot find them on your site for purchase?

Looking to find a sizing that fits most of the world. Those pictured were probably made for Pygmies. I had to wear a size 5X. When usually I wear a typical Large t shirt. I am probably going to try and have them manufactured but the licensing is a bit kinky to work through. Thanks for watching. More to come soon. Freddy

Cavers use them also with or without a wet suit as cave protective gear is extremely tuff on the skin. Yes it's fun climbing underground over sharp rocks😁

Hi Freddy!!! What a greeeeat video you made here, congratulations, your vibe is awesome for tutorials, you have great entonation so it is very understandable what you say (I'm from Mexico, Spanish speaker with some profesional English voc. -- Note: love your shirt! 😉). and I really appreciate your detailed explanation as I'm little fresher on garment buying, I have the Open Waters but haven't yet got my first gear and I'm trying to find the best options for my needs as keep me warm, protected from jellyfish and corals and all is there I may don't even know about, as well as practicality to wear, travel, helper if there's an unseen situation and I need to be seen (black may not help in here as we want to be very visible, right?) , etc, etc... I didn't even know you can wear this under the wetsuit and would feel fine and helpful. Sooooooo: MANY THANKS TO YOU and lots of blessings for you and your channel from MX!! 😊

I like loose an comfortable rash guards. Wear in warm water instead of wetsuit. If it’s tight, then I personally do not like to wear one and might as well wear a wetsuit. Thanks for sharing sone cool ones and your great video.
