Atlanta musician here. I’ve played with Jimmy several times, and you really can’t say enough good things about him. He sounds effortless no matter what style he’s playing, and is as much fun to be around offstage as on.

Jimmy Herring and Jack Pearson are two of my all-time favourite guitarists. And yes, they are most underrated, and should be far more known than they actually are. So, thanks for that, Levi!
@ZeEduardo95
@ZeEduardo95 Жыл бұрын
Jack Pearson is so underrated it is criminal. Also, the fact that the guy constantly plays Squier Bullets nowadays is such a slap in the face for gear elitists. I hope Levi Clay sheds light into the skills of Jack sooner or later. Finally, his slide playing sound is the closest to that of Duane Allman in the Brothers.

What a small world - I was at this show! My buddy Matt Smith and I (rightmost heads in the audience shot) stood in the front row, jaws open the whole show. Matt actually opened this show with Jeff Sipe, the drummer, as they have a long history together + have recorded together. I think every guitarist in Fayetteville was there that night. Thank you so much for this transcription! Its always good to have more people aware of Jimmy Herring.

Lucky enough to see Jimmy with Col. Hampton and A.R.U. more times than I can count in the early 90's here in B'ham, AL. I would stand in front Jimmy's amp and have my face melted at The Nick! His work in Jazz is Dead is outstanding... And after He made some amazing music with Phil Lesh Quintet ("the Q") in the early 2000's. You can find all this stuff on KZbin - including some early A.R.U. Also his album Lifeboat - the title track with Derek Trucks is a thing of powerful beauty! One of my top three favorite guitarists of all time!

I went to a HORDE festival tour show in the mid 90’s in B’ham and it was the last show of the tour. Lots of the musicians took turns jamming with the other bands that day just for their own fun I think. Jimmy played with the first band that day, ARU, and I think he ended up playing with every band that came after, 5 more bands if I recall correctly. It seemed like he never left the stage. He’s an amazing musician capable of playing with anyone. I’ve seen him more times than I can remember now but he always put on an amazing performance and everyone he plays with seems to love him.
