Thats exactly how I make my tiny 480 square foot house feel big, with outside spaces. I add to my house every year with tax return money. I built my 16'x24' tiny house on my families 30 acres in a sugar cane field. I have added a 16'x24' attached screen in porch on the rear, then a 16'x24' carport to that, then on the side of the house a 12'x24' shed, then I attached to my carport a 16'x33' covered fire pit awning, then a 16'x6' fence from my house to shed and 45' fence from my shed to parallel my porch and carport making a 31'x48' courtyard with the backyard view to the sugar cane field and woods open with no fence. Its all about porches, decks, awnings, fire pits, outside kitchens. All this makes a tiny house much more useable. Especially for guests. I have about 12 friends over all winter about 2 Saturdays a month to hangout by the fire pit and enjoy some brews, wine, and either BBQ or gumbo.

GORGOUS HOUSE! Thanks for sharing. I love looking at designs especially tiny homes to get ideas I may be able to add to my place.
@RossMalagarie Жыл бұрын
If I had the money or I would just add over time every year adding one project the only 4 things I would have done differently 1) cement slab with house on cinder blocks at least 3' off ground for easy under house working or if I had the money I would have gone about 8' off ground to have double the footprint to have 2 car garage and screened in porch underneath 2) all desks would be covered 3) fire pit area would have a covered U shaped covered pergola so enjoying the fire pit you and your guest could be in the shade 4) its about 16' tall so I would have made the bedroom on a second floor and had below it a laundry/linen/utility/pantry room where the bedroom is now. And the cover over the deck would also be a second story deck off the bedroom.

This might be one of my favorite tiny homes I've ever seen. Whoever designed this deserves a hug lol. I love the consideration to place large windows throughout for natural light, full size appliances, warm and neutral earth colors materials, huge bedroom with lots of light, the amazing patio wrap around patio that can be accessed from two areas of the home. The huge tub and skylight above the best surprise because I had anticipated that the bathroom would lack that feature considering most tiny homes sacrifice a tub to save space. Well done. As an owner of an 864 sq. ft. prairie ranch 2 bed 1 bath house originally built in 1945, I am a fan of smaller homes. This 525 sq. ft. beauty is a stunner - wonderfully and thoughtfully designed and decorated. As a small vacation home it’s perfect, and if done with a couple hundred more sq. ft. it would probably suit the majority of people needing another bedroom or office space. For the more minimalist it could be their permanent home.

@DerpMcDerp101 Жыл бұрын
Never do they give that, ever. not even an estimate.
@Thomas63r2 Жыл бұрын
For a variety of reasons these all have a very high cost per square foot. They are custom built, not cheap tract homes. The builder still has many fixed costs per building site that do not change just because the house is small. Most owners of land like this will opt for two or three times this size because once you get past all the other build expenses, it doesn’t cost mad money to just go with a larger house and hardly changes your monthly mortgage payment. The other part of real life is that most people have more stuff, kids, guests and would use more space.
@savister11 ай бұрын

I love this entire space, but I think part of what we all love about this tiny home is that it's set on acreage with 360° views and the openness works wonderfully there. Where many tiny homes are going, and where the biggest demand is for small homes like this, is as an extra unit (ADU) added on to a typical residential lot in a suburban neighborhood - where requirements dictate the home should be small. In those use cases, this home would not work nearly as well because everything is exposed and viewable by a neighbor. Also, the entry area and the deck with hot tub do not count in the square footage, but a municipality would count those as "footprint" area, so you would still need the required setbacks and allowances to add those spaces. Great home. I just wonder how likely it is to exist because someone with this much space around them is not as confined to squeezing out every extra couple hundred square feet to get to this size.

I'm glad to read some other practical and critical reviews. I posted this earlier, but you're so right and the windows would cause noise issues. This is a beautiful house and the ceiling height and windows are dreamy, but it isn't a well-designed house and could be so much more functional,. alas, it's built for very short-term living, so it would be perfect for a weekend! As far as long-term living goes, The TV and Record player by a heat source, stove is too big??? Bad design - situating the toilet in front of the door. I'm living in an old (1940s) 525 sq ft apartment that is very well designed. It has an entry hallway big enough for Nelson platform bench and overhead cabinets (5'x9) that leads to either the galley kitchen and dining nook (6'x8' with banquet and 42" pedestal dining table that very comfortably seats 4 and 2 chairs can be added. The dining nook sits between the kitchen and living room area (15x11). On the opposite wall, there is a back hallway leading to the bedroom, bathroom ( with full, deep tub. Not as big as the one in the video--which is difficult to clean around and 2 shallow bath armoire at 12" Depth) and 2 hall closets ( 1 closet can accommodate a stacking W/D unit). I wish my 10'x10' bedroom was a foot.larger, but as it stands, I can fit a queen bed with 2 attached side tables, a small lounge chair, shallow armoire (12" deep), it has 1 window and a closet. WITHOUT FEELING CRAMPED. There are 4 closets total. 1 bay window in living room, 1 window in dining area the same size as the one in the bedroom. Other units in my building also have a window in the bath above the tub. The takeaway is that while perhaps counterintuitive, small spaces ACTUALLY functions better with more wall/divided spaces rather than open-planned. This "looks" great, but my small apartment actually feels like small house!

Greetings and Salutations I absolutely admire the tiny house pocket neighborhood community I only remember my crawl space being that awesome sauce with the barter system it really open my eyes to what 14 degreed water can get me after installing a jacuzzi as well because that's loads of soap Good luck Thanks 😊

I really love the idea of a tiny house, especially if the outdoor space is well thought out. I have a feeling this one would be approaching the price of a normal house though…

There is no magic in housing. You get what you pay for. Also, in these small houses, it is nominal extra dollars to make it slightly bigger.

Honestly, as a single person in my 50s, this is all I need. It's almost still too much space. I really am warming up to the idea of selling my beachfront home and going small (but in a gorgeous area...just not sure where yet). I'm embracing the green life in my old age. I just hope the future generations can have it as nice as I had it.

There's a lady you can search on KZbin, retired teacher gets tiny home. She has these gorgeous ceilings and she had curtains made I believe they are green you can see it in the pic of her video. It's amazing she has a fireplace on her porch. Ranch style gorgeous

It'd be interesting to see how the bathroom door reacts to how the shower was placed. I would make the entrance near the exterior wall, to keep the steam as far away as possible. I think it looks great, however, I'm not a big fan of barn style sliding doors in a bathroom. I feel that my guests would appreciate it being more akin to a vault door, sealing out sound and stench LOL
@TheMMSpirit8 ай бұрын
Love that house. Were it mine, just minor changes. I would cut that bathroom a couple feet smaller, which would make room for a dresser or something in the bedroom. The shower room in the bath was just too much. He said there was a washer/dryer across from the bath with what I assume is a water heater or something. Together with a pellet stove, there's your heat and hot water. Remove all windows and replace with a standard sized one, a bay window in the living room and no sliding doors. A plain wall in the bedroom and a plain door off the kitchen. It would let in less light, true, but way easier to heat and cool and would fit window air conditioners. Not to mention sliding doors are just insecure from intrusion and a heat/cool pig. I really hate them, I'm always saying I'm going to remove the one off the sun room in the back of my house but haven't gotten to it yet.

A Good Consideration to A-d-d More Closet Space . . . You can Hang Another Round Bar or Rod Below the One that is there, by using a Smaller Chain and Hook & Eye's, screwing them Into the Upper Bar or Rod that is already there. Easy 🙂 Peasy. They will even Cut the Rod or Bar at your Home Improvement Center. Can Leave it Raw/Paint or Stain.

Yeah the tv is too high but you don’t need curtains on the windows if you live out in the middle of no where. But maybe for warmth?
@TheCuriousCorrespondent Жыл бұрын
What...you can't hang your own curtains??? I've never moved into a house that had curtains already hanging. And besides...the current resident may not like curtains...who are you to tell them they are wrong and that without curtains the house lacks enough points to be "Drop Dead " gorgeous in YOUR judgement???

It is very thoughtfully and elegantly done. The only thing that I never understand are the large picture windows everywhere with no curtains. A) At night, you would feel like you're in a display cabinet and can't see out. Creepy. Even or especially if you're in the middle of nowhere. Why no curtains? B) Insulation for heating in cold seasons. It must be very hard to warm up and keep warm, especially with those high ceilings.
