One correction: If you're a free players you CAN bring better gear, but that used to not be the case because gear from uncommon to above used to only be allowed (to bring into) high-roller. The only prohibited items in morals are Uniques, which usually have a passive effect like "Hitting an enemy makes them get hit by lightning which causes magical damage" Other funny thing: The default gear used to be Junk quality instead of Poor, and all classes had 15 health less than they have now, so the game was seriously kinda harder. There also used to be an alternative map for the Crypts that started in the surface, and going into a red stair led you to the inside of the Crypts, and getting a red again led you to Inferno.

But no, I've beaten most of the Soulsborne games as a level 1 character, I know artificially difficult when I see it and Dark and Darker is just that, artificially difficult. Like Leviticus said, the enemies attacks are incredibly easy to dodge but for some reason do enough damage to rival a fucking semi-truck.

Bro I had the same opinion of frost caverns as you until like 3 days ago, then I just said "fuck it" and ran it using default gear for about 20 raids in a row, going into the ice abyss every game until I learned it from sheer brute force. Now I'm in love with the map. Not sure if this is satisfaction from overcoming the most difficult map in the game or PTSD and Stockholm syndrome but it feels good regardless!

PS please update or put a pin in the last part referring to the free to play version of the game as you can use all gear you collect in the dungeon as a free to play. The only things you can't do is play High roller and sell things on the Auction House. Keep in mind you can still buy things on there and you can get about 400 hours worth of gameplay just from normal's as it is the most popular game mode by far, plus learning all the bosses. The only thing I will agree on is the 1 character limit, I think it should be raised to two or three slots for the f2p version.

Idk, I already got founder's pack and I still think it's too much pain for new players and they should have at least 2 of those slots. Absolute most of those who will make the biggest use of the second slot will eventually get the game anyway.

or maybe instead of like a max 2-3 slots you start with only one and have to level up your class to like 100 or something and then you get another character slot and you have to get that new character to level 100 to unlock the next one, so on and so forth. its still a big time commitment and most people would probably rather be able to experiment earlier but it would give the dedicated F2P playerbase a reason to keep playing after they've done all they can do on their character

I fw my boy but him being a noob is funny 😂 ice caverns is dope if you play any ranged classes and 124 gear score is really fun PvP. normals over 125 goblin caves for PvP and run under 125 gear score in ice caverns and the castle and you have a good chance of farming pve and not fighting at all if you just move around like you give a shit about getting first eyes on the enemy lol

little tip for fighting druids if you are running gear and not doing a base kit run buy some explosive bottles if you want cause when they go rat form you can throw the bottles at them and if they hit the flames the bottle leaves you basically insta kill them since rats are always a one shot

I have not touched tarkov since the unheard drama and have been spending most of my free time on dark and darker. I love playing a game that respects the player and works without any technical issues. Very glad I've escaped the toxic relationship I had with tarkov

Yep, IronMace are def a breath of fresh air after BSG, zero dishonest communication so far, genuine attention to feedback, fast evolvement, not using early access as a shield, no unprofessional behaviour towards competition. So far the more I know IronMace the more respect I have. Cancer charity was another huge W, shame I missed the torch.

ice caverns PVE can be hilariously abusable with a class like warlock than can instantly break doors and infinitely heal from the mobs, just run around the map agroing as many mobs as possible to form a conga line and dumb them ontop a team with phantomise while dying from laughter

They should increase readibility of minibosses for most attack, and maybe reduce their damage a bit? I can fight most of them without cheesing, but if you make only a few mistakes, you're back to lobby. So I still mostly cheese them.

This is a really good video for getting people interested! I'm gonna offer a few minor corrections here for anyone who's interested in getting into it competitively. For credentials I've been playing since the first alpha, way before it was put on steam, and I've consistently been the highest rank available and top 100 clerics since ranked mode came out. The first is about fighter which leads into kiting and move speed. In high level play move speed is the king and if someone running away from fights annoys you this is NOT the game for you past casual. The meta is very much kiting and at high gear lobbies and ranks fighter falls off hard. He changes from a valiant frontline to a tincan wall that's very easy to outmanover because of how ranged-meta this game is. You can play fighter, and there are really good ones in the community, but don't expect to do much except watch your teammates blow their spell and arrow loads all over each other and stand close to them in case someone pushes. It is very, very difficult to push because everyone can zap/shoot you, run back, and do it again. Also at higher gear levels Cleric can very easily build to outdamage fighter, though they won't be as tanks. The reason I'm specifically talking about fighter here isn't to correct that one point, it's just to let people know that while melee combat in this game is insanely fun, for better or worse players that know what they're doing will kite and use every ranged option at their disposal, including the melee ones- a smart fighter and barbarian (you nailed btw, simple class but high skill ceiling) will use crossbow and throwing axes before as much as they can before moving in. With gear a wizard can one shot a fighter if he isn't built extremely correctly, and most fighters at high tier lobbies don't even wear full plate in every slot just so they can attempt to keep up. Sprint isn't enough when one of the main priorities on every other class is to build as much movement speed as the game will actually allow you to have. Believe me when I say there's few things scarier than playing as "fast" class like rogue or ranger, attempting to disengage, and realizing a barbarian has the gear to have a higher movement speed than you and is about to bulldoze your ass straight to the lobby screen. It is very common for fights to span multiple rooms because of how much poking and non-commiting in this game is. That turns a lot of people off and they should know that if they plan on getting into this game past funny low gear lobbies where everyone is sprinting at each other talking like medieval peasants on open mic. Which to be fair is definitely worth the price all in its own haha. Really solid video tho, definitely good for getting people interested! I subscribed :)

Dungeonborne is also far more enjoyable for new players (imo). Me and a mate tried our best to get into dark and darker and would just get rinsed by players who clearly know what they are doing. Started playing dungeonborne and it immediately feels like a much more level playing field.

Not to give any tips to the fuckin' druid players out there, but... _Don't try to go up steps in rat form. It doesn't fucking work. Pick panther or chicken._ Now, a tip for people fighting against the hippie menace: Stay close when they start shapeshifting. You probably won't stop them going rat or chicken, but in tight enough spaces, you can shut down bear or panther form. I forced a druid into a corner earlier tonight, and when he changed into rat form to run, I skewered him with a poke from my longsword. Very satisfying.
