I feel like the rat playstyle is almost the intended type of play in EFT. It's a survival game that wants to be realistic. You would most likely want to sneak around and ambush people. Patience is a virtue in real combat. Obviously there is a time and place for fast action and decisive maneuvers. Sometimes I am also guilty of "camping" or "being a rat". Mostly it's because I enjoy the intense, yet calm moment of waiting and watching a target spot through my scope. It's like fishing on steroids.

As a rat with 4 years of experience under my belt, I’ve come to learn that I could probably kill 80% of the player base in a fair and even gunfight. With that in mind, I still run away from most engagements. I only run so far however. Being a rat is so deeply ingrained in my blood that I am still becoming more “immoral” in my tactics. I’ll bait people with grenades when I barely know about them. I’ve found angles that not even L could’ve foreseen. My hearing has evolved beyond my human form. Extracts are like Rimworld kill boxes to me. Now, they give me the gift of inertia and voip. I’ve already made a soundboard of death noises, and I have used them to great effect. Take a grenade, toss it a bit away, and play the death noise when it blows. They come to loot me and learn that they’ve been played. I have become a Picasso of Tarkov, but ratting is my art and I am proud of it.

I feel like I should make a correction. As of late, Tarkov researchers debate about the last species seen in the video. The reason is that it may be a new and completely different strain or mutation of the rat species. The professional term is a "snake" for the creatures. The subject, names "Sam" seems like a perfect example of an apex predator in hinding. - notes from Dr.SnakeTheNewRat

Same here, I’ve never played but I can tell each of the play styles of each species uses. The PMC will most likely be a chad who will no doubt never back down from a fight, will go into a fight that is a kilometer away. Risking everything they earned in the match for some more loot. The scavs are a more honorable type of species, where they tend to team up and complete quests and help each other gain more loot. Overall the most docile of the tarkov region. Then you have the rat, where honor among looters is thrown out the door when high tier loot is on the table. They will also most likely never go into a fight unless they are certain that they have the fight in their favor.

I need explanation because it fascinates me - these are the least cost effective choices you can get, along with most limited ammo that in no way surpasses the competition from 9x19 caliber. These pistols do not have high capacity magazines, their accessories are expensive and recoil isn't really that much better. While we're at it, why spend all that money on shitty pistol when you can have silenced Saiga-9 that has access to cheap 30rd mags, cheap suppressor, good ammo (both findable and craftable), less recoil, better fire rate and better accuracy. All you need is a rubber and silencer and there you go, you already own a firearm that's INFINITELY better than any pistol in the game, for dirt cheap (gun cost about as much as Glock, silencer is 10-12k on flea - literally the only cheaper silenced weapon is TT...). Oh and also you're not limited to compact collimators and can use any red dot or assault scope you desire which more often than not are much cheaper or better than your fancy Delta point/RMR. And probably the best part about all of this is that unlike your expensive pistol, Saiga 9 will come back with insurance 100% of the time (most people don't even bother taking suppressor off since it's really bad vendor value).

As a rat trying to get out of my stash running and yes unfortunately exit camping ways, it's an addiction. Fueled by fear and paranoia every footstep you hear makes your heart drop and your pp91 shake in your hands

Nice, but neglects to mention the Omni Rat. Omni Rats struggle to maintain a stable rouble count, and as such they combine stage 1-2 gear with stage 3-4 tactics. Desperate creatures, driven to the brink by their poverty. (I'm an Omni Rat)

Artificiallis Intelligentus Scavicanus! They find the meager meat of a hatchling absolutely delicious, while PMCs and Playerificus Scavicanus don't even care to expend the energy and resources needed to hunt these creatures, often letting them just wander on by, though in rare cases helping them out from pity alone. This combined with Player Scavs often developing rat like behaviours such as the exit camper, and teamkilling asshat archetypes lends more credence to the theory that Player Scavs and PMCs are somehow connected.

A newly discovered breed the body parasite rat. Is a special part of the genus, this specimen is one that uses dead body piles and waits for a prey to move to the pile searching for profit only to be added to the rat in waiting loot organisational loot skills. Hopefully one day a successful rat can accomplish Tetris level of organising their stash. Remember nade or dump some rounds into body piles to make sure.

I guess found out if I play this game I would be a huge, loot-hungry rat, probably hiding in some bush an ambushing people. The fact that you can get a lucky M416 off some guy appeals to me.

True rats don't even step foot in Factory, it's for filthy Chads. The loot per minute is way too low for the risk

Factory is simply a birthing ground for rats, just like Customs. Those that survive, learn to to scurry in more expansive looting grounds.

Tarkov is a full of winners and the dead, rats are neither. They are the closest thing to a human scav, a scavenger. They always win because they lose nothing and can only gain. The largest roadblock for rats is missions that involve killing players, thats when they set up the long camp. The only weaknesses to rats are reminding them of a time before fir. It gets them teary-eyed every time.

I'll be honest as a rat, most of my play time is spent as a hatchling, not because I cant afford gear, but because I'm too much of a money goblin to want to buy gear, increasing profits is the only goal, and the few times I have a gun is from loot or scavenging the corpses of the fallen like a vulture to the deceased
