Great review. My wife decided that we need a new humidifier and I decided to purchase this one based on your recommendation. She’s going to like the aromatherapy aspect but I have to admit my favorite feature is the top fill ability. Guess who won’t have to fill up the humidifier anymore?!!? Great review very well explained, may i ask how accurate is the humidity reading? Since i read so many reviews saying it’s way off comparing it to reading from thermopro hygrometer !

Hello ... Here is what I have observed. First, I use mine in a 20 x 15 bedroom. I also have a hygrometer in that room. Now, I use it for my health but also to humidify some acoustic guitars that are in my bedroom. My hygrometer is on a chest of drawers, elevated about "4 feet off the floor" and close to my guitars. My Levoit humidifier is on the floor, by my bed, about 8 feet away from the hygrometer. So, it is not a true apples to apples comparison. To really measure the accuracy of both, the hygrometer and the humidifier sensors would have to be right next to each other, but they are not. I imagine "most" people complaining that they see differences in measurements, probably aren't doing a fair test either. Also, what do I trust ... a $110 Levoit machine or a $10 hygrometer? Here's what I find .. my Levoit machine, in general, seems to show a higher humidity reading than my hygrometer. If I use the cool mist, the difference is even wider. If I use a warm mist, their readings are closer. Probably because heat rises and the rising mist is probably affecting my hygrometer more as it is elevated 4 feet up, where as the cool mist probably settles more towards the floor. I might go into my dry room and see a humidity reading of 21% ... I turn on my Levoit machine on warm mist. Two hours later my hygrometer might read 32% and my Levoit machine reads 40%. So, the Levoit machine is definitely raising the humidity nicely, but the readings are different as the devices are very separated. My main concern is that the humidity is rising.... So, I kind of use an "average". I might set my Levoit to stop at 45% knowing that in reality the room is going to be, at least, somewhere around 40% which is good enough for my health and guitars. Sorry for the long answer, but I just don't worry about how accurate each machine is because it is not a real clinical test and I actually don't know which device is more accurate. My old humidifier had no measuring component. So this is better for me. I set my Levoit where I want it to be and use my hygrometer to verify that it is working and the humidity is rising as needed. Whether they are precisely the same number, doesn't really matter that much to me as I know it is not a controlled apples to apples environment.

@@goodcourseproductions5546 i really appreciate the time you take to explain everything in details, thank you very much, i just ordered the thermopro hygrometer TP359 and im still not sure if i really need a humidifier or dehumidifier, my son 5 years suffering from asthma and not sure what is the current indoor humidity, but once i get my hygrometer and read the humidity i’ll will go from there and i hope theres something like humidity/dehumidifier combo unite so i can benefit from it all year long! Hello, thank you. It all depends on your needs. The 300S is a "cool mist" only humidifier, while the 600S has both "cool and warm mist". (That's why the wattage is higher on the 600S ... heat uses more wattage.) The 600S will handle a slightly larger room. The 300S can handle a room of up to 505 sq feet, whereas the 600S goes up to 753 sq feet. So, if you want the "warm mist" feature and your room is larger, you might go with the 600S. If it is a small room and you don't require a warm mist, the 300S will be perfectly fine. I don't usually use the warm mist to tell you the truth, but I wanted that option just in case. My room is also fairly large, so I opted for the 600S. Also, the 600S is about $30 more expensive. It seemed like a small price to pay for the additional range and warm mist feature. I probably would have been just fine with the 300S. Had the price difference been dramatically different, I might have just gone with it but $30 extra seemed acceptable to me. Good luck.

@@utrutr6013 The manual does not provide that specific information, so I can't really answer your question. Sorry. Since the 300s is similar but only has a cool mist feature and mentions 26 watts that might give you an indication but I would suggest contacting Levoit directly online to get the accurate information for the 600s.

My humidifier continued to work very well during the winter months. It did it's job and I had no problems. I love the features and made full use of them. It has been packed away during the spring and summer months of course, but I'm sure it will be in full use again before the end of this year.

How is the warm mist function? and do you think warm mist is worth the extra money?

In my case, the primary purpose for the humidifier is to keep musical instruments humidified properly. The cool mist does that, so I don't use the warm mist very much. They say that the benefits of a warm mist humidifier are: 1.) They are quieter 2.) They add some warmth to the room and 3.) Might better prevent bacteria in the air. (They can be a little more dangerous to pets or children as they can get hot.) I find, this model, even in the cool mist setting, is very quiet and I don't depend on it to create warmth. I clean it routinely, so I don't worry about the bacteria issue. I guess it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish or what your concerns are. For the most part, I don't use the warm mist feature. I do like the other "smart" features of this model, and that's why I purchased it. The warm mist was just a bonus, should I need it for health reasons.

@@Adamsw216 That might be a question that you have to pose directly to Levoit Customer Service. The instruction book only explains how to turn on the cool and warm mist functions but, it does not explain how the warm mist function actually works. The humidifier does have a heating element that heats up the water and, based on the location of the steam chamber it "looks like", the ultrasonic element is creating the mist and is then being heated, as you mention. Since you can switch fairly quickly from warm mist to cool mist I "suspect" that it is not boiling the water in the tank but I don't use the warm mist, so I'm not 100% sure. I would contact them directly to confirm.

Hello ... It's hard for me to answer your question as I can't see what you've actually one. It's fairly simple so, unless it is broken or you haven't plugged it in to a working electrical outlet you should see misting as soon as you turn it on. You really just put water in, plug it in and turn it on. If you don't see misting, what is it doing? just nothing? Are the lights coming on? (You should see lights if you are plugged in to a working outlet.) Push the misting button up to level 3, do you not see anything? If you put your hand over the top, do you see moisture on your hand? (Make sure it's not in sleep mode when you are initially testing it. Just push the on and off button only and set the mist to level 3. ). Also, look at the instruction book and make sure all of the parts (misting chamber etc.) are properly seated in the base.

@@lauryjerry1566 Hi ... I would probably first go to their website at www.levoit.com and go to the warranty section. They give customer service information that gives you options to either call, chat or email. (Phone is 1-888-726-8520 or email at [e-mail]). Make sure first that your timers and humidifier settings are not set in such a way that causes an automatic shut off. For example, if you set the humidifier to 40% and your room is already at 40% it will shut off. Once you're sure those settings are correct, it's possible that a sensor is just not working properlt and causing it to shut off. I would contact them, and let them tell you how to best return it or replace it for you. Best of luck. It is a very nice machine and I have had no problems with it, but you might just have received one with a problem.

Needs to much cleaning AND it is impossible to remove all of the mildew because of the way it is made. Overtime, even if you clean it weekly, there is more and more mildew. This is not any different from other humidifiers that I have used. Right now am not using my Levoit bc the effort to keep it clean is just too much 0:13 trouble. I have bern able to help with the dryness in the bedroom by keeping a window cracked open. This also helps with dust and other particulates. Not a perfect solution but I have no energy for constant cleaning of any humidifier.

That's a shame. I have to say that, thankfully, that has not been my experience. I have not had a problem keeping it clean and have learned to do it fairly quickly. There is a video on my channel that shows the cleaning process by the book, if it helps. The video might make the process look cumbersome as I intentionally waited for the humidifier to get really built up with minerals so that the cleaning process could be demonstrated. Overall, I am happy with the performance of this humidifier. Good luck.

Gurgling? Noisy? Lights go completely out?

I don't really notice any significant gurgling or noisiness. It's fairly quiet. The lights go out completely in "Sleep" mode so that the lights don't bother you when you are trying to sleep. When you touch any key, they come back on and then go off after 6 seconds when you stop touching the display.

@@markwarren7778 I believe that's to be expected. In the warm mist mode, the water does boil to create the steam. In the cool mist mode, an ultrasonic vibration causes the steam particles to form, so you really don't hear any boiling bubbling sounds. I do hear slight gurgling when I'm in warm mist mode but nothing very significant.
