This video is about the unforgettable scene when Lewis first discovered the mermaid secret of the girls.
Rikki Chadwick, Emma Gilbert, and Cleo Sertori are three teenage Australian girls who find themselves stranded on the mysterious Mako Island, where they end up in a pool under a dormant volcano just as a full moon passes above them, bathing the pool in light. The girls are rescued and brought back to shore, where they return to their normal lives, until discovering their lives have become anything but normal. The girls find out that ten seconds after coming into contact with water they transform into mermaids. After further experimentation, the girls also discover they have supernatural powers over water.

After a night bath in a lake, everything is different and as soon as Cleo, Emma and Rikki come in contact with water, they transform and get a mermaid tail. While it was a good show for kids, you're not going to see any more.The follow on show was fine,but,time passes and the crew and cast got older. Someday,they may decide to come back in the same roles,but it's their choice. The cast probably enjoyed doing both series,but as they got older,they can't play the characters the same way. There is a video or segment somewhere that explains how they made the tail. Each tail (that they wear) is individualized to the girl who wears it.

I know that the tails are all custom made to each girl, I think they take a mold of each girls torso down and then shape off of that. All the tails are handmade and every scale is put on a piece by piece. The back fin by their butt is how they get in it, the back fin is split in two so it makes an easier way to get in without the tail looking tacky. They sew the back fin up to compress the tail to the body to make it look as real as possible and the tail is actually pretty heavy!! I think they said it was like 20 pounds or something!! And then they have a separate flimsy tail for like the bathtub scenes and stuff like that!
