I think it’s because Max didn’t want Lewis to run too long just to cover Sergio. This would have left Lewis with fresher tyres towards the end of the race. So by Redbull pitting Sergio, Lewis would most likely also stop. This way Max will still keep track position and Lewis’ tyres would only be a few laps fresher at the end of the race.

@@stephenweewoo Statistics values nothing. These 6 championships values less than zero, I watch F1 since 2002, he is an extraordinary driver, but with this car even Giovinazzi would've won these 6 championships.

He couldn't speak for some of the race due to his mic not working. He may have been talking but it couldn't be picked up.
