Just before listening to this, I watched Tommy Makem on KZbin interviewed on Irish television, speaking of the oral tradition of learning songs. He said "I learned these songs on my mother's knee and other low joints."

I’m a medical student from University of Glasgow. Found this fascinating. I have been ‘joining’ up a lot of things/events... ‘I follow the instructions’ and amazing things happen... it’s as if ‘invisible hands’ are guiding me. I seem to be chasing Omens. The Psychiatrist at med school think I’m ill... (so I’m getting a proper investigation done) I feel grounded but a lot of good is happening and have an insane vision of opening a charity and educating the world about ‘The Spiral Dynamic’. The vision is so grand that it extends to making this charity into a University which will train doctors which are better than what’s currently coming out. This universities uniqueness will be at the ‘joint’ of medicine and business (start-up culture): that’s my background. Any thoughts what might be going on? I’m 23, I meditate. Have been waking up at night regularly between 1-4am on most nights for over 6 weeks now. I caused me to become tired, yet I’m doing more work than ever before. Thoughts?

I guess another ‘joint’ of this charity would be spirituality... which level green and/or turquoise of SD. I seem to have been having, what I would describe as ‘spiritual’ experience. But medicine does not recognise this of course... because it’s stuck in rationality (orange stage of SD).

I also cry listening to ‘Sufi’, Bollywood songs. Yet, I also dance to them.

do you exercise, eat well, sleep well (you mentioned no in this instance), and have some healthy emotional/physical/sexual connections outside of your university life/course? If you answered no to any of these, you may need to get your balance and go from here, otherwise you will be always playing "catch up" and wondering what is wrong with you. In fact there is nothing wrong with you, (or any of us), we just perceive there is /or have been projected on) because we haven't realised who we are, and our sickness is a manifestation of our misunderstanding of our environment, the system, time, and our body, which is a timeless spirit capsule, fragile as it is strong. This illusion is what the doctor protects. Go forth with that knowledge and explore the potential of that duty.

Hey medic, love your openness and it's brave. What helps me is re-reading the jungian archetypes and understanding/incorporating each figure to complete the self . I explored and lived Joseph Campbell, Alan Watts... In Campbell's book "myths to live by" I believe it's chapter 10, it was about schizophrenia and accepting psychotic episodes as necessary and important to the self understanding. If it hurts no one, and maybe you will hurt yourself .. I'm not judging your journey but as long as you don't hurt anyone and ate exploring you, then I say go all the way into the dark. Lose your mind if you have to. Scottish psychiatrist (and alcoholic) Dr. R.t. Laing helps give a candid and vivid insight into psychosis. I Just wanna be helpful to you. I get really uncomfortable when people write me back in comments on KZbin and will likely delete this another time but you're 23?. Don't worry. You have lots of time to learn about who you are. As for dropping out of society and opening charaties .. virtuous? Ambitious? Absolutely. Just chart a course and set sail for a single purpose one thing idea or goal at a time. Sometimes it's hard to just brush my teeth or remember to smile. Then, there's times when you will and can work on the world around you. Stay away from the linear proposals of how you should be living your life , these constructs. Like, at 25 you have to have this or at 30 that... No one knows what's going on out here man. Old people who look wise, are just old. People. Some are wise but some are just old criminals and shitty people lol. You're already wise if you are questioning yourself this much . That's my opinion. Best wishes friend *downs my beer*

Without knowing you, you sound like you could be a little manic. Maybe you can use this energy for a good purpose. Pretty much the same challenge we all face, I hope you listen to the psychiatrist but you also have to be your own psychiatrist.

This video describes me.. every key term has been part of my writing.. from Hermès, to destruction, to walls. Traversing the line between opposites. A walking paradox. The nature of that which is not.

Me too!! I’m so glad I’ve found this video. Since watching this video, I’ve enriched myself in a lot more Greek mythology and these tricksters are evident almost everywhere. I could never understand why I was 2 sides of the same coin. How I could be good&bad. To me, I’ve found out that I never really believed in good&evil and so it was so easy to jump between the two worlds if one were so to speak

Seems to me this is talking about the role of imagination in mankind, and Jacob (Israel) if the Old Testament, as a precursor to the awakened imagination, Jesus. That ability to go between worlds, not quite Earth, not quite Heaven, and bring things back.

The white boy created two different worlds, not Frederick Douglas. They drew the line what was white and what is non white
