For technical stuff I created a new KZbin channel @cerniworks. There I posted a similar video, disassembling and analyzing Lewis LV2 brake: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaPdaqlve5yir8U

Love that there's no olive. Seems like an insignificant detail, but small parts like that can be sold at the price of gold at the local shop, and it's very good to just know there's no need to even get one. Pretty nice that you did this video because I always want to know how to take things apart, and just with a video like this you have so much better understanding already. Top job, man.

Look nicely made. I am surprised/impressed. Just the clamp appears to be a bit flimsy. I have the Sram hinged clamp and the Hope T4 clamp here for comparison and both look a lot more substantial. Especially the Hope.

I see Lewis get get a lot of comments about copying Trickstuff and Patent/IP infringement, but it looks like they did not have a patent or the patent lapsed and got deleted.I can't find any patent for the brakes, I see Trickstuff does 3 year patent on the products that are listed on Google Patents now, but some expired. BTW a centre lock adapter might come, cus I saw a patent for it. But I repeat, no brake. So in that case it's legal what Lewis is doing. If Trickstuff had a lapsed patent, that's not even to be found now.

Hello, Do you know the size of the wrench you used to take off the grub screw on the reach adjuster? I'm trying to take my levers apart and can't find a wrench small enough.

Is there a specific size/spec for the brake hose? I looked into ordering these but a supplier told me the LH4 only comes with silver brake hose and I would like black hoses. Wondering if would be an easy swap to a different type of hose.
7 ай бұрын
No, it is standard 2mm ID / 5mm OD diameter hose. They use EZmtb. You can easily swap it. But since the lever has such a high leverage ratio, braided hose is advised.

these brakes caused a discussion over youtube. Did you already test them? Any feedback?
8 ай бұрын
Yes. There are already ~15 sets in the wild around here, being ridden in bike parks, local trails, enduro races etc. The feedback is positive, everyone who tries them is impressed with performance and build quality.

Well, I just got my Lewis LHT and the free stroke / bite point adjustment screw is heavily sticking. Can't turn it without having to hold the lever reach knob with a pipe wrench. Otherwise the whole screw with the knob is turning with it. Honestly im really disappointed since they are brand new and these little fine mechanic parts seem to be representing the usual china quality :/ Besides that theyre by far the best brakes I ever put hands on. From the way they feel to the unmatched braking power.

Curious is it matters which mineral oil you use. 🤔 Will Shimano or Formula do? What do they use?

I emailed Lewis and they claim any brand mineral oil.

Sweet. I think all should be safe, but I was curious about the performance, some claim only their mineral oil will work optimally. But if it does not matter, that's superb. @@mikeanderson9977

+ titanium bolts & caliper pistons. The pistons in a caliper are bigger too - 4x17mm. LH4 on the other hand uses 17 and 14mm pistons.

No shifter mount? Wow. Still, I would never give them money as they are a blatant copy of the Trickstuff line.

They have bite point adjustment, Trickstuff don't, also they have a version with leverage adjustment too. The bleed port is not on the side but at the top. yes there are some similarities. I don't know if they copied Trickstuff, maybe they based it of it.

I like that Lewis went for bleed port on the top, with trickstuff you have to have the lever off the bike to bleed it, cus the lever has to be horizontal cus the bleed port is on the side. I like they have a brake with leverage adjustment too.@@gavinatkins3371

I have a friend with these on an e bike and they work Extremely well, I will be purchasing in the near future while you will still be deciding whether to venture out of your small world. The fact that they have taken something further than the original is called Progression, the Future has always been based on this.

@@johnlucinsky992what are you talking about? They just copied a Trickstuff design. Where is the progression in this? Its not a big faceless Corporation they stole from but a small manufacture where a handful of passionate people are developing and assembling these amazing brakes. I myself have a Maxima and Direttissima and i just hate the fact that these chinese guys just dodge the effort and steal technology and design from these good folks in Freiburg and undermine their livelyhood...they even used very similar names for their products before starting to sell outside of China
