OMG! I was totally unaware that Lewis past. I seen his rescue video and like many others I cried like a child. Next, I seen Lewis reunited with his savior and all looked well for him and I start to read through the comments and they all said R.I.P Lewis. After a quick search I learned it was true and began sobbing like an infant all over again. God Bless all the vets and volunteers helping the wildlife. It's just to bad that it takes a disaster to bring people together and help one another. R.I.P. Lewis

Poor Lewis, may he be on that great eucalyptus tree in the sky, munching away. I noticed that the man not only made sure to pick up the plastic bottles, but even with all that was going on, he fished around in the hot soil to make sure he got the bottle caps. Leave no trace! Tremendous folk, I wish them the best.

So heartbreaking. Poor Lewis, he could go nowhere without being burnt. I don't know why, after all these years, this is popping up om my feed. Lewis, crying in pain, and that wonderful lady pulling him out of the flames. She cared more for Lewis than she did her own life. I know you tried hard, Lewis, but you just couldn't hold on anymore. Where you are is much better. No pain, no suffering, just lots of pristine forest to play in. I hope to see you at the Rainbow Bridge when it's my turn to come home.😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔🐨

@cathycastleton4 жыл бұрын
XD Dogiix I have added a description, fire lighters are dickheads who go out on high fire risk days and light up the bush then run off, then enjoy the emergency services response and the notoriety Far too many of these jerks in Australia, and far too many bad fire days recently This phenomenon is not new unfortunately

Reading an article that basically said it was not cost effective to continue to treat Lewis with amount of antibiotics and pain medicine and the level of pain Lewis was in they just come to the very fast decision to euthanize him. Wow, no matter the cost if Lewis was still fighting to live, money should have been irrelevant. A Go-Fund-Me would have easily taken care of the finances. Unbelievable! R.I.P. Lewis

voice of reason .I know she had her heart in the right place but the ground was smoking burning hot smoke coming off the ground and she shoved him down to poor water ( which would turn to hot steam that added more burns on top of the ones the fire had done to him.. he was crying out in pain to be picked up .. he held out his hands to be picked up and she shoved him down over and over while the husband didn't go pick him up either. he stood back and said ' put him on the blanket to get him OFF THE HOT" but he didn't just rush over and pick him up himself . obviously the lady had her heart in the right place but in reality she was over anxious to think straight and continued to add more burns on top of the already bad burns he had . I Think the country could have set up a program for the country to order a local school or something as a place jjn each town and city around the whole country as a kindred to keep them safe and just have the word go out around the country to rescue them and bring them to a local place that is going to be help them

I dont understand why someone was making this video instead of helping koala while seeing him going to the fire... i think there was enough of time to catch him on the road but well... filming was more important
@ДавайДосвидания-м4у4 жыл бұрын
Ewa K exactly ! I would like to shake the person who filmed this Koala walking slowly from the road to the burning forest ground and tell them to do something! It looks like it was the media , I think « we saved a koala from the fire » would have make a story as nice as « we waited there until someone saved a koala » but it’s just us 🙄
@myriam41434 жыл бұрын
Because Australia needs help, aka financial support. And for the rest of the world to care, someone needs to show us images of what is going on. This is the difficult task of reporters...😢

I'm sorry but WHY did they let him walk into the fire? They just stood there and filmed. Yeah it was great of them to eventually get hold of him and take him to a hospital but they stood and watched him walk into that fire first.
@whitneyg11154 жыл бұрын
They could have just been filming the smoke and fires and Lewis came into sight. As you can tell these people want to help, if any media attention was brought it was for awareness which has proven itself and has sunk in after watching this video. Don’t be so negative.
@whitneyg11154 жыл бұрын
Not to mention he likely just walked out of a way bigger fire zone then the little bit you see him walking into in this video
@Gorskface4 жыл бұрын
@@whitneyg1115 stfu you're all over these comments defending the cameramen. If they're professional media filming, they have gear on tripods, and could have easily left the camera filming while rescuing this animal before it went in.
@Gorskface4 жыл бұрын
@@whitneyg1115 the asshole cameramen fucking panned the camera to ensure it was still in the shot. Fat, scummy, lazy cameraman more focused on getting "media awareness" than saving a helpless koala.
@libbycampbell8794 жыл бұрын
They said they spotted him in the road, and he was very distraught and confused from the fire and smoke. While one or more was filming, others look to be helping by either going after the koala or getting supplies ready. Not everybody wants to walk into a fire. And, sometimes too many people trying to help can just end up getting in the way, causing more harm than good.
