would strongly advise @lexfridman to recheck comments adding settings on his @youtube channel. For the unknown reason mine just can't be added appropriately. Briefly will summarize them here: 1) Our global progress depends on individual leaders that create geopolitical landscape. That's a given. Putin kills innocents not only in Russia, but in other countries as well. That separates him from all global leaders of modern world. The death of Alexei Navalny speaks louder about Putin's cowardice than anything else. 2) Unlike WW1 and WW2, the War in Ukraine started not because of global economic and geopolitical shifts, but majorly because of the internal problems of Russia. That is fundamental in making decisions about how to deal with current Russian management team. 3) Energy system is still a primary factor in reshaping European economic reality. Ukraine can become a major resources supplier to European countries. Russian influence has decreased. That is a fact. 4) Aggressor and the victim can't be treated equally. By starting the war putin automatically agreed on the following terms. He should be kept accountable for his own actions. If he is the president of Russia of course.

Lex, I've watched many of your podcasts. Unfortunately, your behavior in the Zelensky interview was absurd. You showed yourself to be incredibly naive. So many cringe worthy remarks. Putin will roll right over you if you ever get the opportunity to interview him. You need to rethink what you're doing from the ground up. I hope there is the possibility to improve.
@MacAndy7 сағат бұрын
This statement provides no value. If you want to criticize fine, but do it productively with specific things that can be improved or don't do it at all.
@keim3548Сағат бұрын
@@MacAndy What comes to mind is Lex giving no pushback when Zelensky goes on a rant calling it naive to believe Putin has any interest in ending the war, then asserting Ukraine needs to not talk until they can negotiate from a position of strength. But the reality is they're a small, weak nation, who exists only because they are fighting a proxy war for the US, and it's incredibly dangerous to keep on the path of nuclear escalation until Zelensky is satisfied that "Ukraine" is ready to negotiate from a position of strength. And the end result is untenable - Russia simply can't afford to have a nuclear armed enemy on its border. This would be akin to the Cuban missile crisis. This would not be a position of strength or some kind of parity - this would be a chokehold.

When I came to Kiev in 2012 to study in a university from Lviv where I was born, 80%+ of people in the CAPITAL of Ukraine spoke Russian. I studied in Russian. All but one subject in KPI on my faculty were taught in Russian. So yes, majority of Ukrainians speak Russian. Or they did, before it was banned. Before Russian schools for minorities just like the one I attended were closed. And before Donbas and Crimea was annexed, it was a majority first language. And yes it is true that people in villages and rural areas speak Ukrainian only. Especially in the west. But the reason you are mad is because the west no longer buys the agenda you are pushing. But you keep at it, let it burn to the ground. I do not care anymore. I’m proud to be Ukrainian. But if the state tells me that I cannot speak the language that my friends and family speak, that I speak and consider my own - then I don’t want to have anything in common with it. I’m not welcome? The issue is not WHO he is interviewing, but HOW he is interviewing and framing the conversations. For example, Lex’s insistence that the interview must be conducted in Russian simply because Zelensky is capable of speaking Russian comes off as extremely nigh eve at best and maliciously ignorant at worst. Zelensky doesn’t want to do this, as it would be a major symbolic concession to conduct a high profile interview in the tongue of the aggressor nation, with the proof of this principle being that Vladimir Putin adamantly refuses to ever be seen speaking any language other than his own, which is Russian. For some reason, I highly doubt the Lex would even consider raising the question that Putin should conduct his interview in English.

When I first saw this interview was announced I felt conflicted. Then I watched this clip. There is Lex's language, his own heritage, but most profoundly, his well-researched and well-read push for PEACE. And the news he is interviewing both leaders. What a service to humanity. When you juxtapose Lex's thoughtful eloquence with the mind-numbing ignorance and naivety of lower-intelligence legacy media journalists, the comparison is laughable. I've been in the BBC newsroom, and the Sloaney-types are just thinking about their lunch at Soho House, and their next promotion (hence puppeteering propaganda). The BBC is yesterday. @@TheNamesone Even if that is true, his is still my favourite interview style and platform in the world currently. I don't have an interviewer I prefer, and I study geopolitics & philosophy. I think he's great. And though I don't support either Zelensky or Putin, I don't think Putin is a monster - I think he was provoked into a war (a war which I think is wrong) by NATO/US intentional aggression, and I think the history of how Zelensky was put into power by US-led foreign interference via a coup is complicated, and not as portrayed by Western legacy media, which demonises Putin to the point of pantomime. All the more moronic when at the same time a true evil war criminal (Netanyahu) is lionised and idolised by that same government propaganda and legacy media messaging.
@MA-ResearchEdu-e9lКүн бұрын
@@steezydan8543 His actions may be monstrous. Maybe anyone leading a war is a monster, in which case Putin would qualify. But US leaders have murdered more civiilians than Putin - the civilian death count from US presidential led military action since W Bush to present is between 11 and 20 million, and I believe the death toll in Ukraine on both sides may currently add up to 250k. Awful, awful. But is Putin "Voldemort" as Zelensky says here? Or is he a leader provoked by the world's principal aggressor (the USA military industrial complex) following NATO expansion threats despite forewarnings? I think that's different to Netenyahu who attacks 6 countries simultaneously following his own genocidal ideology.

You've been "planning" to interview Putin a long, long time, Lex... :D And I don't hate you for that! Preparations are important! Luckily, Tucker didn't wait for the war to end or for the president's and the new administration's approval before he went. You waited to see at least a million (give & take) Ukrainian soldiers die first, to build up the dramaturgy? Wanted to give the time to your pals who work as contractors for the Pentagon and the rest of the military and journalistic industrial complex to earn a few tax-payers billions more? Why, would USA's infrastructure get repaired, medical coverage paid for, homeless get home, when you and your pals can skim more tax-payers cash on the back of the Ukrainian and Russian corpses ... It's all well. You have the freedom to chose who you consider to be equal human, right?! Going together with Trump, to give the winning army an ultimatum and end the war in a day? So what next, Lex? Interview with Netanyahu? Or you wait for the genocide to go on a bit longer...? --- Not a word about the biggest industrial terrorist destruction - Nord Stream... Who can Germany and Russia sue over that? Where are the "Ukrainian" perpetrators? Who is protecting them? How come, Lex, you consider Zelensky to be a president (even of whatever is left of Ukraine)? He certainly does not have the vote of the majority of the Ukrainian people! A small thing, considering we don't give a shit for the democracy even here at home. Where can one find the information about Ukrainians involvement in killings in Butcha in April 2022? How come we still don't know even the names of those killed there? I thought you would ask Zelensky about shutting down the oppositional news outlet as a "present" to Joe Biden.... and about Hunter Biden's role in Burisma... Next time, maybe? How come communism is outlawed in Ukraine? Why there aren't any oppositional media in Ukraine? What happened to them? Everyone thinks and feels the same in Zelensky's Ulkraine? What do Poles feel about all those Bandera monuments elected all over the Western Ukraine? What does he feel about Bandera? What does Zelensky mean when he says that USA may negotiate the peace with Russians? Joe Biden clearly stated that those negotiations are a matter between Ukraine and Russia and USA will not meddle or tell Ukrainians what to do (except, maybe, to enroll younger and younger men into the meat grinder, when the older ones got killed got seriously wounded)... Is killing more and more, younger and younger fertile population in a country that had negative population growth not an interesting topic for Lex? Cheers, cosmonauts from Silicone Valley. “Do all I can to push for peace” Lex just doesn’t get it…Putin holds those cards Lex. Perhaps Lex not being from the USA he doesn’t understand how valuable freedom is 🤷♂️
@Dennis0824Күн бұрын
Putin is not a dictator. He is the president of Russia. He recently won re-election with 78% of the vote. Yes, there was political opposition. The communist party got 19% of the vote, while the balance of the vote was spread among a number of other small parties. FYI, when the Soviet Union fell and the Russian Federation emerged, Russia adopted new constitution which is very similar in many regards to the US Constitution. Calling Putin a dictator would be the same as calling Joe Biden a dictator. So with that in mind, Zelensky has 2 choices. 1) Give Russia what it wants, namely, no NATO membership, limit the size of the Ukraine military to 80,000, and stop the persecution of Russian speaking Ukrainians. Putin negotiated all of that with the M I N SK accords which were signed and guaranteed by both France and Germany. It turns out, France and Germany bargained in bad faith. They had no intention of honoring the agreements. Putin has absolutely no desire to take over all of Ukraine. He just wants to stop the slaughter of innocent civilians who are of Russian heritage. Ukraine had been part of Russia since the time of Katherine the Great. Kruschev gave administrative control to Kiev in the 1950's. 2) Zelensky can continue this war and watch his entire country be destroyed. At that point, Russia will dictate terms. What was Ukraine west of the Dnieper river, will be carved up among Poland, Hungary, and Romania. Ukraine as a country will cease to exist.

Lex if you are truly from the region you would know that 90 percent of Ukrainians, 100 percent of Belarusians and 100 percent of Russians are not nationalists, but 10 percent of Ukrainians (predominantly western) are, and they are ultra nationalists. All troubles came from those 10 percent. More than 35 years ago, I was in engineering school in Belarus and we had a lot of Ukrainian students there. When you speak to some of them the nationalism was evident in every sentence they made. It was truly remarkable. Eastern Poles, and Western Belarusians, we were all acutely aware of it. This war is a tragedy and make no mistake that those 10 percent caused the war. One needs a lot of noise to wake up the drunken Russian bear, but when that bear is up, he is unstoppable and the little West will not solve this problem.

@andreilukyanov428611 сағат бұрын
Do you REALLY don't understand that a language is JUST a language, it is a mean of communication for human beings and not a private property of Russia? That hundreds of millions of innocent people in many countries, including in Ukraine, have it as their beloved mother tongue, literally a tongue of your beloved mother who loved you on it and given it to you, and by calling it "a language of the aggressor" you make innocent people feel worse than sh*t while they didn't do anything wrong, they are EQUAL human beings with human rights like you, like me, and like your children? I seriously think Ukraine MUST revise their disgusting retoric which reeks ethno-racism. This whole attitude is what messed this poor country up! Under the same pretext Ukraine itself was uprooting the Russian language and the Russian culture in Donbas, the native language and culture of the people there. Are you guys seriously have IQ in single digits not to understand that if you despise a local language in a region and try to forcibly convert them into an another language, cr*p on their culture, they are going to secede?
