Thisbuilds awesome . I stopped playing sorc and went to monk when cast on freeze got nerfed and left off in a2 cruel. Saw this video yesterday and decided to play it again and CRUISED thru all the campaign in cruel. Still only like level 65-66. 2 shot the a3 boss and not even doing the full sigil of power and soul offering buffs

I've been playing variants of this build as a mostly but not strictly self-found character - the ball lightning / lightning warp gameplay is more engaging to me that just filling the screen with sparks. So here are some observations from someone who's doing mid-level maps and doesn't have the resources to purchase the items needed for the fully evolved version of this build. Getting enough mana to sustain both "damage taken from mana before life" and costs of archmage is a challenge, and that was just grabbing all the nodes from the passive tree without any damage taken from mana jewels. Even with Eldritch Battery I didn't have enough life and mana to feel comfortable with the levels of either mana or life. If you can get a shield with good block, that block cluster is a very cheap way to get extra survivability. I still found I was dying more in maps than was comfortable. My first change was to go back to using energy shield, but I still didn't have enough for good survivability. The big change I made was switching my chest to Ghostwrithe. This is a cheap unique that gives an enormous amount of energy shield (if you're invested in ES nodes). It was enough that I felt confident picking up chaos innoculation which takes a whole category of damage off the table. Running Ghostwrithe meant it was no longer possible to run both Archmage and Cast on Freeze, so I opted for Cast on Freeze and Grim Feast. It's a skill I haven't heard talked about much in sorc circles, but allows you to overcap your energy shield to up to double it's normal value. I'm not pretending it's anywhere near the damage of the non-ES version but it's increased my survivability to the point where I'm not tearing my hair out from burned maps. The requirement for 160 spirit to run both Archmage and Cast on Freeze does make gearing much less flexible.

I'm viewing it more as a stop gap that allows me to get through maps and find better gear for either the ES or non-ES versions. Finding a body armour with good ES *and* lots of spirit is tricky too.

Holy crap, I'm currently running a different type of storm sorc build to the video and the one you're describing but I had a decent amount of extra spirit due to offhanding a scepter for it, and grim feast has made mapping so nice from surviving a decent amount and potentially being oneshot here or there with capped resistances to living 100% of the time all the time and getting to juice the maps. Thank you sincerely for enlightening me on a sleeper spirit investment for ES characters truly

Thank you so much for this guide! I swapped from Cold Meteor to this build and it feels amazing. Clear speed is insane and boss one shots as well! The only issue are the jewels. I cant get any with 4% damage from mana and at least one more good mod for less than 40 ex. I am running it with 49% damage from mana at the moment and sadly I do die from time to time.

I've got currency to boost the build once I get to level 80+. If you got the gear for this build and you are not being able to do it, I'm afraid is a skill issue, which can be improved by practice. The fact that you aren't being able to do what he's doing now doesn't mean you won't be able to do it 2 days later.

@James-m3x1b I started following this build from level 1. There are a few videos regarding this build. Before the mask, he was running a call of the Brotherhood Topaz ring. Like he mentioned, you will need some skills before this build really starts to take off. I ended up buying the ring and mask for a divine each. But then again, I did buy a divine for around 3 to 5 bucks from a 3rd party site. I did learn that paying attention to where you're warping can help as well as falling back to get a better position. There have been times when I trap myself into a hoard of enemies. The poison enemies in act 3 are bit hard to make sure to warp around a lot. Other than that try to get the gear as close to what he has as you can. It helps.

damage from mana jewels and those nodes are very important for this build to work in early mapping or you will be dying to small random things in early maps like me :D i still think spark playstyle is more chill to farm maps(especially if u have that glove that stuns everything with electric damage) but this is a great alternate if u like to click more buttons just prioritize the jewels and shield setup or u will feel really horrible struggling to survive. great video and explanation !

I absolutely DO NOT recommend this build if you're short on currency or if it's your first character. Weaker version of it is struggling a lot with dmg and survivability, so definitely not a good choice for even 80 level. You will struggle with waystones and especially bosses as you're gonna be very one-hit killable. So unless you can afford tons of divines for the equipment (or you're incredibly lucky with gear mods), DO NOT follow this guide as it is pointless. I learned about this the hard way. It's a good guide in general, but definitely for freshies.

I really wanted to keep playing this Build but in the end I gave up on it because Shocked Ground drops FPS to 30 whereas spamming Spark is fine for me. In addition to that the cost of Items in general is too much in this Game and it forces you to trade if you want to progress. The Jewels alone cost 1 Div for the worst roll PER Jewel.

I just went for budget reasons (and better transistion from campaign) to a es/life hybrid, it works well enough. atm at t9 maps. my biggest issue is that i slammed a staff at level 38 so well that it is too expensive to get even a comparable wand. also what you run: acceleration or deceleration largely depends on your cast speed imho.

I'm having some trouble with this build 'mapping' I'm still on the campaign. I feel like if my first Lightning Warp doesn't freeze or kill I'm potentially in a lot of trouble because the mobs can just stun/stagger me out of my next Lighting Warp animation. Do you have any extra stun threshold or do I just need more cast speed? Also which rewards did you take for the Venom Draught quest in act 3/6 and is it a big deal?

Stun Threshold and Maximum Life help prevent stuns. You can also use Briny Carapace in the passive tree. Mana Regen and Chaos Res rewards are good.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, I'm new to PoE with PoE2, but it seems to me that the real issue with trying to replicate something like this build on a budget are the jewels you're using. 4% damage taken from mana jewels, even with only one of the recommended stats, and with lesser rolls are exceedingly expensive, generally around 3-5 divines each, and you have 10 of them, and it seems that the whole build falls apart in terms of survivability without those. Then if you don't go with mana as your damage absorber, you have significantly less mana as you're no longer converting your energy shield, which negates the higher damage you'd gain from the additional 3% damage per 100 mana passive. This build seems like a novel concept, and I wish I could use it, but it doesn't seem like a realistic goal for 99.9% of players.
