Half way through milling out my first try in this using my 3018 Pro CNC machine. Looks perfect but will need to wait another 45 minutes to see if it works. Much better than watching paint dry. Used same settings in a 3mm piece of white Perspex. Had to program in my tiny v bit size and shape - glad I had a micrometer to hand. Saving up for entry level version of the software to say thanks and to be able to have roughing options. Good timing for Mother’s Day here in UK next weekend. Edit: it worked: see link - thanks Desk Proto: instagram.com/p/BvY_ccblVQE/?igshid=6uytpe026d40

Nice information. Which machine type I shall select from the menu if I have a Openbuilds C-BEAM CNC Machine???
@Deskproto4 жыл бұрын
Hi Hamid, This Openbuilds control software tells that it accepts G-code, so you can try the machine "ISO plain G-codes". Further: it looks like it is a variation of the GRBL software, so the machine "GRBL-based machine" may be worth a try as well. Further see the information and video on this subject on www.deskproto.com/support/faq.php#machines1

Awesome work. Cant wait to try the software. What kind of plastic is that?
@Deskproto5 жыл бұрын
The plastic is called Corian, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corian This will work with any white plastic, though other plastics may be more difficult to machine.

DeskProto Thanks. I’m familiar with it. I’ve just never seen it that thin. All I can find is 1/2” for the most part.
@Deskproto5 жыл бұрын
@@robclark4962 The Corian website indeed only mentions 6, 12 and 19 mm thickness. We used an alternative brand called "Hi-Macs", see himacs.eu/en Their color Alpine white is also available in 3 mm sheet.

Hi , Where we can buy lithophane like yours ?
@Deskproto4 жыл бұрын
Lyes Akkouche , We are still hoping for a DeskProto user to make a business of selling lithophanes: we'd gladly promote such endeavor. Currently I do not know any such store.

Can we export it into stl file?
@Deskproto Жыл бұрын
In DeskProto you can create a Simulation of the resulting part, and export that as STL file (Create > Extra). For this conversion a special tool might be easier though, like imagetostl.com
