Hey Lex, I think it's great that you're willing to talk openly about your challenges, because for many players we don't have the best habits to support our mental and emotional health. Thanks for being open about it, and reminding us to try to live a more balanced lifestyle.

I have to be honest here, I don't like watching poker at the Lodge. IMO their cameras and sound are crap. I guess I'm just spoiled by HCL and their production value. But I did watch this entire video. I'm glad that I watched to the end because I want to say that Lex you know that you are not alone with your mental battles. I've struggled with depression and anxiety since I was in my early 20's. I'm now 66. I have a lot of regret because I didn't make the choice to live my best life early on. Now that I'm retired I'm finally living the best life I can. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself in front of a camera to an audience and say those things. I applaud you Lex. I wish you all the best and the best run good. Right on man. Kudos to you.

Great video Lex! Appreciate and value the transparency around your mental health journey. You do live an aspirational life for most people on the 9 to 5 grind, and I can see how life on the road and lack of structure may allow for more downward spirals. Wasn’t expecting a shoutout but thanks for mentioning our conversation. I will add, as an academic, to what you have said in the outro - the higher authenticity you maintain in your public persona, the better your mental health will be. The reason most celebrities suffer from depression, anxiety and end with some kind of addiction, is the psychological toll due to duplicity that they are forced to maintain for their public image. The more authentic you are, the less toll on psychological resources. So, keep up the good work and just be yourself at all times.

Hey Lex, so K10 is your new favorite hand, I guess? Lol. Great vlog, thanks for your honesty, and yes, we all have "life swings", whether in poker, family, jobs, or elsewhere. The best way to combat depression, etc. I've found is to: 1. Have God in your life and try to follow his scriptures. 2. Have good friends and family around you to support you. 3. Be humble, generous, gracious, accountable, and not prideful. 4. Stay active, make sure you get some sunshine daily, as it def. can help with your mood. Seems by what you said that you're on the right track to make some positive changes. Take care, Bill

In my top 10 of hands I've played, watched, or even dealt in my say 40 years of any kind of poker. I knew it was coming on the river when you said that comment that you were not going to win. Have experienced that outcome way more than 10 times in my poker games. Jinxed yourself (and the other player with k,10). I'd be able to forgive you and hopefully they will, but I believe it was a good lesson to learn from of something you don't say while involved in a pot.I will continue to watch your vlogs in the future UNLESS you make that mistake again. I'm sure you noticed that noone else @ the table said anything about the hand and were quite shocked when you did. Kinda shows inexperience of having never been in that situation. Hope this helps you in your poker future. You ARE a good poker player but never go up against the poker karma god's. You will lose the vast majority of times. My father taught me that poker is a game. If you're trying to make it your career(business)then expect the unexpected.I have experienced a one outer bad beat twice and only that would have been absolutely throw-up grosser than that. Peace ✌️

Hi Lex, enjoy watching your videos, and especially enjoyed that last part where you kept it real regarding your mental health struggles. I struggle with similar issues, and I know this is probably not what you or any of your viewers want to hear, but I eventually came to the difficult conclusion that poker (or any sort of gambling in general) was NOT helping. It's a very strange game that can be extremely cruel and many times highly illogical (like the big T-1000 hand). I also totally get what you are saying about Vegas. They call it Sin City for a reason. It's all superficial, materialistic garbage. Everyone seems so happy, there is beauty all around you, yet it leaves you feeling so empty inside somehow. I have been 5 times now, and the last time left me feeling so horrible I told myself it would be a long time before I ever went back, if ever. I came to the realization that I really don't enjoy gambling, I only enjoy winning. No matter how good you become at poker, no one wins every session. Only the select few are even positive EV in the long run. I also am single without children and know I should spend less time gambling and more time working on improving myself and my social life. Also my Christian faith helps stabilize my depression and improve my life perspective. Good luck man, I hope you can figure out something that works for you. I will pray for you. Blessings from Jacksonville, FL. Feel free to hollar at me if you are go to Best Bet and need someone in your cheering section.

Lex- Sorry but I'm not feeling very sympathetic about your MH. I honestly think it has helped you play poker more freely and willing to take chances with big bluffs - that may sound harsh but it's pretty obvious you're willing to take big chances - now I know why. I've watched many of your videos and analyzed your poker skills - and the only thing about your game that is above average is your willingness to make big shoves. That's it and that's all. But that's an important distinction. Having the guts to make BIG shoves is the difference between average-to-good players and the top 10% of deep stack cash players. If I ever play with you I will absolutely call your shoves if I have any reasonable showdown hand. You make big shoves too often and if you played with a solid group of players regularly (like my home group) they would all know your shoves are bluffs at least 50% of the time and start calling you 100% of the time. I don't think you can maintain your current upward trajectory. I think you've been pretty lucky over an extended period of time and we all know luck is fickle. I wouldn't invest in any of your action now.

Lex, once you understand life, like Poker, has peaks and valleys. Identifying thoughts, events, circumstances, whatever that cause you to feel "down" and making changes to place them in a category of positives - learning from them, so to speak, outlooks change. Good example, when you ask God for patience, he will present you with events which cause you to learn patience in order to learn from them. You are a very smart guy. Learning is definitely in your wheelhouse. I also know you are a reader. Books by Wayne Dyer are very helpful with arranging life in beneficial ways. Arranging....what an interesting word, I also note you are very OCD. That is a good thing and a bad thing. You appreciate order and structure. Very good for arranging. Lex, I've followed you from just about the beginning and sincerely appreciate not only what you have accomplished, but your sincere demeanor while doing it. Do the work and keep up the posts. A lot of us out here inn viewer-land love you and these posts. Take very good care - see you next time Brother!!

I am a retired Soldier, and your mental state discussion resonates. I know you are passionate about fitness, and I'm pretty sure you are a Crossfitter, yes? CF folks thrive on posing themselves continuous challenges. You are also challenging yourself to improve at poker, a 'game' that involves beating your opponents by outwitting or outsmarting them. I play too, of course, and I Crossfit, and I fly planes and rock climb and lots of other things - I like to challenge myself too. I am older than you though, and would offer a little bit of advice. Poker is mentally and emotionally brutal, when you dive into the lifestyle. I think you can get a divorce from that lifestyle, while continuing to play and win at the game. I also think you would benefit from some more challenges, to help you thrive more outside the cardroom. I've been amazed at climbing, and you can absolutely do that just outside Vegas (though Texas and Florida not so much...). It makes you fight to overcome the tension and urge to cling, and try a hard move, despite the risk and fear of falling (which doesn't go away even with a solid top rope). I think it is great for mental and emotional strength, and I've been amazed at how welcoming and open the community of climbers is. I would also urge you to find a 'give back' endeavor, whether a charity, a church, a project or similar. I help coach a high school wrestling team, and when I am there working with young teens there is literally no other place I'd rather be. Just my thoughts. I enjoy your channel, appreciate your candor, and hope you continue to move ahead, whether the cards fall in your favor or not.

Bro I have a similar life to you. 25 years old, used to be a wrestler, now work a seasonal job and play poker as a side hustle mostly 2-5 and 5-10nl. And when I play poker, I turn into a degen like you were saying. Some tips I have for you is stay in a condo, not a casino, make your own food and pack a lunch that you can bring to the table in your backpack. Eat healthy and drink lots of water. Also play during the day, the games are less stressful and sleeping during the day makes mental health issues 10x worse. Get a mattress topper and a set sleep schedule. Also only play for 8-10 hours a day unless the game is super juicy. Also, getting roommate that your friends with helps a lot too. Networking and talking to more people helps with mental health better than anything, cause human interactions level us out. Because it’s having too many of our own thoughts that are unhealthy. Like how talking to that guy made you happy but also made you realize you were unhappy.

I have always seen social media as the modern day version of your parents/grandparents photo album. You see the births, holidays, celebrations, etc. But when is the last time you flipped through an album and saw the pink slip, or the overdue bill notice, therapy bill? No one is immune from the hard times. As a viewer, we need to remember this so we don’t get a skewed image of others, or negatively impact our own mental health. As a creator, you are under no obligation or expectation to showcase those harder times. However, when you do, it serves as a reminder to us that your life isnt all peaches, and ours isnt all pits. Thanks Lex O. Keep it up!

We all can do this or that and we will feel good or bad doesn’t really matter as long as I’m not harming myself or others it doesn’t matter because at the end of the day or end of life we all fall victim to the ultimate enemy, and that’s your life. I read the piece of wisdom that the neighbor lady has stuck on the trunk lid of her Lexus. Here it is; I never make the same mistake again, I just have to make it 4 or 5 more times till I figure it out 😅 I was thinking about that as you played K-10 for the 3rd time in a row. Yeah you won that time, yippee 🎉 You still could’ve lost and that’s okay because you’re still alive. And that’s life, live your life like a poker hand. We all end up the same and that’s dead 😵

Im a contractor and have often considered trying to play professional but what holds me back is the atmosphere that goes with game. It is more negative in these rooms than positive. Everyone is having fun and all but deep down it's people trying to get your money and when their losing the mood changes. Plus your in a casino surrounded by all sorts of gamblers so the energy is bad. It weighs on you. After 8 hrs in that environment I feel terrible win or lose. To spend all week in it will become an anchor on your spiritual evolution. The happiest people I know are broke and spend all day helping others. Not that I'm innocent of the lifestyle but simply put gamblers are often more of a selfish crowd

A roller coaster ride , ending with a profit - amazing since you only seemed to be dealt K 10 off all night ?! 😊👍🎅

You seem to have your shit together. Mentally, physically conscious/ healthy, financially, motivated and a positive attitude mostly. Your game has drastically improved and higher (nose bleed) stakes seem natural to you now. I fuckin enjoy watching your videos !

Impressed with the honesty. Good habits like going to bed early and eating regularly and well, especially when traveling is the only advice I have. Friendships can also help a lot!

I’m not as experienced and if I was playing I’d be drinking so I probably put him on Ak don’t think he’s betting like that with pocket 10s or 7s so I would call and hope to not see a diamond or an Ace

Did u see how many times u had K 10 as a hand this episode??? I think u lost every hand when u had those 2 cards. Definitely not your favorite hand I hope. Love your videos.

That over-call by T-1000 with AQ against three players when he really only has three pure outs to win might be the worst call I’ve ever seen.

Just curious. Did you happen to look up llama play in the solver after this session? I’m not sure what adjustments need to be made.
