How was it in the winter and high snow for you
@tyrell.3 жыл бұрын
You’re driving on packed snow. This video severely understated the capabilities of an IS AWD (with good tires). Even with the lack of clearance, this thing can be an absolute beast with heavy (fresh) snowfall, or incline/declines.

My gs 350 f sport awd just saved my ass. People can't get up the steep hill in my neighborhood. With atleast 6 inches of new snow and my car got up that hill with absolutely no issues. This car is such a blessing 🙏🏾

Winter tires make a huge difference, you should get some!
@korguenkomodo10 жыл бұрын
yeah they do, but honesty with the all 4 tires working at same times and all season tires you don't really need to... unless you are gonna do some kind of rally... this thing can climb a tree
@andylie76998 жыл бұрын
All season tires are never as good as winter tires dude... They really make a massive difference on snow and ice, braking performance and traction when accelerating is massively improved. I drove with all seasons the first winter I had my car, which I thought was good enough. But then I decided to try some winter tires out, and after 2 winters now with winter tires, I will never go back to all seasons... Winter tires have way more traction
@Shabec298210 жыл бұрын
@korguenkomodo the 19's would look cool but... Trust me, get a separate set for winter on the stock wheels. The last thing you want is snow, salt and grime messing up your custom wheel and tires. Then you'll just have two different sets of wheels with the same all seasons. One for summer (19's) one set for winter (18's,17's)
@korguenkomodo10 жыл бұрын
Shabec2982 Yea I have to think about all that... but I don't see spending money like that for now so may not happen in another 6 months

+Dave Mitchell Hey Dave ... Thanks for your feedback and taking the time to comment... as you would know.. anytime on the news is announce..3 inch, 6 inch , 8 inch of snow expected... you will never see the ground measuring the amount we are expecting everywhere... the snow start melting.. cars drive over and or trucks start cleaning... that doesnt mean that the amount expected didnt hit the ground... During this video I drove after work hours when it started snow pretty hard about 3 hours before I did this video... The idea was show viewers my experience while driving and highlight the AWD system.. Thanks again.. Cheers

***** Hey brother thanks for your comment... my name is Luis ... korguenkomodo is just the name of the channel... are you getting a Lexus is? so far I am very happy with this car... I wish I had a 350 instead ... miss the power of my G37.. but couldn't drive that anymore here in Nebraska with the snow... The stock tires on this car are not the best... but I have not been stuck or anything anywhere.. once we get some big snow I would like to post a video testing the 4x4 system

***** Hey luis , my name is Ryan and i think i'll be driving up to Lexus of Omaha Friday :) , ya i was thinking about the 350 also because of more power , but am thinking i don't need it since my truck has plenty of power.I have driven a truck for the last 8 years and miss the feel of a car ,How does your is250 ride im looking for smooth and pleasant ride. plus 250 cheaper than the 350s ive found.
@korguenkomodo9 жыл бұрын
***** The car is actually super nice ... suspension is super soft ... you barely feel anything... the seats and leather are just something else... very good quality as well as dash and steering wheel... as far as power.. well yes the 350 would be better but like you said cost matters... I added a cold air intake and it sounds insane as well as added more power... I am planning on doing a custom made magnaflow exhaust... that should add another 25 to 30 horses.. the car is actually pretty fast for being a 250 because is still a V6..
@rpete92559 жыл бұрын
***** Nice i'm getting excited to drive it tomorrow. Sound likes you've done some modding can't go wrong with Magnaflow, i have maganaflow on my truck along with cold air intake too:) so when you gonna Supercharge that bitch :)

***** well as you know that's the most you can do before adding a super charger or turbo... I would go that far with this car... Its a 2008 so I don't want to keep it longer than 2more years..I like the Subaru wrx and Lancer evo for the power and awd system... maybe will consider one

Watch his other videos and listen to that traction beep. This thing is horrible compared to an Audi or Subaru. I mean ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! In eithe of my Audi's you rarely ever had traction control kick in with all season tires. The power distribution in his other video shows how bad this car distributes power to slipping wheels, or even distributes power to the front wheels. if this thing is just ok in the snow, then you will be blown away by an Audi or Subaru. BUT, you won't have the Lexus reliability........... But we never had huge issues with our Audi's. The is nothing like an Audi in the snow!

Hey just some advice. It's not good to have all that snow on your hood. I live in Alaska and you get a ticket here if you do that. Safety first correct. I'm thinking about buying a 06 is250 awd. It has 164,000 miles on it red in color

Ha, I just bought one of these and my guess is that is going to scoop snow like a plow. I mean the front is maybe 6" off the ground. Might be time for the Silverado.
@andylie76998 жыл бұрын
Just get some winter tires too, they make a massive difference in the snow, both when accelerating and braking
@vbdenny8 жыл бұрын
AWD is great in snow, really gets you going. Of course the tires (the part that touch the road) are the same as FWD or RWD drive cars so they brake and turn as bad. Snow tires are MUCH cheaper than accidents.

Lol this is nothing compared to my Canadian winters….. my awd is250 was a beast, I had the most expensive winter tires I could find on it, in snow storms on the highway everyone else was doing 30kmh while I was cruising safely and perfectly at 80kmh….. I had a 350rwd and that thing would not handle Canadian winters at all. Guaranteed..

AWD on a lexus is useless 99.9% of the time. Just eats up power that could have been used in the rear. It does make it easier to get moving in snow but the car is still mostly rwd. I think quattro and Subaru have superior AWD systems but Lexus is way better than Hyundai AWD

I just went up a steep incline that my charger can never make up in 6 inches of snow. And my awd lexus got up that hill with not a single issue and I saw a sport utility vehicle fail right before I tried. They probably had horrible tires. That's just speculation. But my gs made it no problem. I'll never buy another car after what this car just did. Thanks lexus

@@therealsyxx Thanks for that encouraging information! Snow can be a nuisance every year in the winter time and I really did not want to move on to a Subaru or a Toyota forerunner or any 4 x 4 actually. The IS250 AWD may be the answer! The IS 350 is too much lol.

You can drive any rwd in snow just don't get stuck and don't oversteer. Tires make more difference than the drivetrain type. All AWD does is help you get moving and helps you straiten out the car in a slide, most time you're driving straight
