The portion of this episode deals with the combined efforts of Rod Millen & Chip Foose to modify a Lexus IS300, providing it with better styling, handling, and performance. When people are complaining about the color scheme, one of his sketches was much more subtle with a gray paint scheme. The Lexus guy was the one who chose the Red and Black.

I agree with most of people say that why UZ engine instead of 2JZ-GTE. Cos It basically had a normal 2JZ, so the mount position is prety same for 2JZ-GTE, and could've used Toyota Aristo V300 Automatic gear mission too. But think it again!!! Put 2JZ-GTE engine was the easiest solution, but couldn't have innovation. A small car with V8 and balanced power( no turbo lag) from Japanese premium car like German had. It was romance to try to make one by them to kick Lexus ass for the future production. And it went well!!!! Lexus made the ISF out of this knowledge!!! And now, the new RCF is coming out soon which is again small car with powerful V8 engine.

the thing with a lexus V8 is you can get huge horsepower from them without having to even touch the internals,just bolt on horsepower.

The only reason I'd use a 1UZ over the 3UZ is that it can handle boost better with thicker cylinder walls. 1uz and 3uz are the same block but with different sized cylinder and pistons and slightly different heads.

i've been looking for an is300 for a while. just haven't found the "right" one yet. and im also lookin at an is300 L tuned edition...those are sick. but this video was awesome! turned a v6 215hp into a v8 315hp (or more). thanks for uploading brah!

@atomicfart3514 Sure, but I think they swapped to in the aluminum V8 for two reasons: 1. As a proof of concept - in the years since the legendary 2JZ was first introduced, engine tech has evolved quite a bit; the aluminum V8 lead to a mere 2 lb. increase over the straight 6 and the V8 is just as balanced/smooth. 2. They probably wanted to keep the luxury/reliability aspect of the Lexus marque, leading to N/A over turbo. In other words, they wanted a new IS, not 4dr Mk4 Supra.

I love my '05 IS300, too bad I cant afford to do what FOOSE does. I'm a bit baffled why they would have left the stock lighting and hood on it. Plus, it would have been interesting to see if they could have done something with a straight 6. Sure, a good ole' American V8 has more torque, but isn't the idea to see what its capable of under a few constraints? That was a very cool paint job, though.

1. Was it difficult to get the 4.3liter to fit? 2. Were the engine mounts from another car or did you fabricate your own? Is there a swap kit for this setup? I saw the clips on tv it looked great to me. Great job.

Well this is 11 years old but It’s not hard to fit the engine, and quantum auto makes all the custom fab parts for the UZ

Wtf!?? I thought Chip Foose would've made a better car out of this lexus! Why take out the 2jz too? Instead of that V8, it could've been better if they put a single turbo! The only 2 things in favor to this car is that they kept it in the toyota family, and they made it a 6 speed! That's it!! The car is ugly, the paint is horrendous and, those rims!!!???? Blame the Lexus Executive. If you saw all three episodes, Chip had some more understated options but the Exec went and chose this one. Honestly that Exec didn't look or talk like he had a real enthusiast car bone in his body. Granted they wanted the car to stand out, but it stood out for all the wrong reasons. A single color paint scheme with an interesting color would have accomplished both.

Also, you probably could have made the same power as this motor by adding simple bolt ons to the factory motor. Should have just gone with the 2JZ-GTE with a single turbo.

i have one with a non turbo 2j. If i had this much money i would put a vvti 2jz-gte in it. you can have heaps of fun throwing it around with stock suspension. and the paint job is horrible.
