Hey lex! Thx for the videos. I''ve been playing for about 4 years and while i had some good turnouts i eventually broke even cause of my inexperience. Your videow have been a huge help on mid/short stacks and i am finally turning a proffit. I would love to see a video on how to play with a big stack deep run. I find my self a lot on the final 3 tables with a huge stack and i always blow it before the final table. Thanks again tho!!

Super helpful With A2s against a all in from the SB (who has you covered) Any combo you’re ahead is at best 60% favourite So calling villains all in only means you’re hoping for trash or 2 random cards like K5 at the best of times but they can also have good hands that crush us (any pocket pair) and any Ace x Is that worth your tournament life if you’re in the money but 10 places from now the money jump starts to increase significantly?

Most insightful poker youtuber about. Its one thing to understand poker but to put it in layman's terms the way that you do, so folk that are an ace of spades short of a full deck (like myself), have a chance of grasping it.

Your content really makes me wanna play poker again, just don't have the time no more. But I remember losing $300 (40% of my BR at the time) playing mostly $1 tournaments in a single month, that really makes you doubt yourself and think youre playing bad even tho its just runbad. Made me feel alot better about my play when I made back like 80% in just the following week haha

Again, very helpful! Being short stacked is all about patience and getting it in good. I think your notion about linking the result of a single hand to having a bad strategy is really important. Employing the right strategy but having an outcome you didn't hope for does not mean you have to play differently the next time the situation arises.

My friend does this all the time and I tell him to just think about the times when the play is very profitable. Maybe get kings or queens or random bluffs to commit more chips into the pot drawing very slim. And if they outdraw you so be it.

Hey Lex, thanks for the awesome vids. Interesting point you brought up at 7:40 about treating late-registrations as higher buy-ins because of increased variance. However I was under the impression that max late-reg was higher EV and actually lower variance - because I thought you have a better chance to make the money due to not having to risk all-ins earlier on where you are much further from the money. Am I wrong on that or just misunderstanding?

Nice video! About "What do you expect to call you (when you shove 66)?) question at 20 mins, it is as you say, lots of folds or high cards calling and flipping. But taking any other line would be way harder to play well: Fold - just too tight, you cannot fold 66 here against cutoff range! Call - playing 66 oop will be very hard and you cannot realize your real equity well. Small 3-bet: Almost same as before, opponent should call almost all of his range and you will only be in tougher spot then with even more chips in the middle. All other options than shoving preflop are just plainly worse. EDIT: Once again, against cutoff range.
@Jeesus2011

Lex since we shove 22-55 for 35bb vs button open, what other hands do we shove so it doesn’t make QJs to snap us knowing that he’s almost always flipping. We won’t shove 35bb with nutted hands and we balance it with none all in 3 bet bluffs so they know they’re not likely to be dominated

I do everything right and get the aggressive player in with some trash and I kk or qq or something and the flop comes and they drill two pair and I lose. Happens so much. I need some advice lex. I've read up that it not me and my play is good as I'm getting my money in good. But stars and gg seem to pick the moment when I have the monster and lose to 94off or some trash. I've tried to handle these bad beats but it's got to the point where im even scared to call off all in when I have aa. I literally had aa 13 times from 8am till 9pm and most of them where all in preflop and lost 10 of them.

Very interesting video lex, good stuff. I play alot of turbo sit n gos and this short stack knowledge applies here often. One question tho: you stress the point about not shoving weak aces with 10-15 bb from early pos because u can get called and be dominated. But why is it so, that when they're suited it's all of a sudden a clear shove? U for ex. said A2 suited is insta shove from utg with 10bb, but isn't the math when it's suited just like 2% better? U still get dominated from all the other stronger aces, no?

@pete6099

I would have thought it's more down to number of players on your table and your position and action before you rather than size of the field although bubble play may alter the charts considerably .
@LexVeldhuisTV
@LexVeldhuisTV Жыл бұрын
It gets closer when you get a bit down in the field. But it's way too advanced to adjust to much to it. Just be aware of imediate money jumps like the bubble or on a final table.

This applies even when you are short stacked (even at small stakes.) When you had A2dd and the villain bets 1BB on the river you should be VERY wary. It's a move I see often at smaller stakes. Yeah, it's a small bet and the pot odds make this a call. They know that and use it if you have any showdown value at all, even A high. But I have learned at these stakes, that is the nuts extracting an extra BB for value. It's not a fold the first time you see it, but if you see them do it again... exploitively FOLD your marginal made hands, you are beat and getting all the pot odds in the world still make it a bad call.
@pete6099
@pete6099 Жыл бұрын
It seems to be player dependant too. Was the small river bet to induce a raise or was he scared of a flush. It's hard to tell what the 1BB was used as without knowing the other players thought process. Interesting spot though.
@jppagetoo
