Leyland 270 tractor walk around and updates

It’s wonderful to see interest you and your family has in restoring the Leyland I cut me teeth drawing in silage in the 80 s on a 270 boy could she pull loads of grass at 30 mph no one could keep with me. Best summers of my life really looking forward to seeing end result love to get my hands on one looked at one today but huge work to be done and funny no power steering on her Lying up ten years outside kind of disappointing as I taught it was better. He’s asking 1500 and five would be loads keep in touch Phillip

Thanks lad for your great comment yes I'll hopefully have her running will have videos on further progress with her ,I have heard alot of farmers speaking so highly of them , We also have Nuffield 4 /65 with a Leyland six cylinder engine great tractor best sounding engine them six cylinders ,I hope to buy a Leyland 285 synchro be my dream machine All the best Kieran cheers

Love the video ,I’m looking forward to seeing what ye do with it as I have a 270 myself that I bought around July/August this year she needs work but she is putting in bales of silage for me for the winter and starting every time .

Good job philip will be nice to see more video on it my uncle has a 272 the same condition as your but the engine is seized

Thanks lad the engine in the 270 is seized from water getting into the engine ,we had the exhaust covered only to discover a hole in the silencer but we are working on getting it un seized ,is your uncle's a synchro or crash gearbox ?

Won't be to bad, I've unstuck two engines. One 270 and a 344. I took the heads off and put a block of wood on the stuck piston and gently hit it while someone else turned the flywheel with a bar through the starter hole. And with the head off it let's you clean any rust out of the boor. Not very hard to do at all.

I had searched this in hopes of finding what I have which is the leyland 220 mine is in very excellent condition compared to this but hit me up so I can give you some tips to get it running.

Never heard of a 220 Leyland ,must be very rare ,thanks we have done alot of work since this video ,we working on building a shed so to get it in to work on , cheers ,will have a update soon when we get the engine unsezied
